A full three years had passed since that wonderful morning at church and that freeing prayer that Gabriel had at home. Ever since then, he had been fixed on praising God and focusing on Him. He had grown closer with his Father, and he meditated on His word day and night. He prayed often, literally anywhere at any time. He prayed with his eyes open, his eyes closed, he prayed in his closet, and he prayed in his car. He went through arduous trials, and he was more settled, strengthened, established, and perfected after it. He was greatly matured, and he had a lot of character development, and most of all, peace and eternal joy. He continued attending church, and he also attended Khaleel and Sandra's wedding. He was very happy for them and more than pleased to see Sandra with someone who would love her as a husband should love his wife. Khaleel and Gabriel were still best friends, and over time their relationship was greatly strengthened. Gabriel still looked the same as he did years ago. He was a naturally youthful person, and he was still rather handsome.
Gabriel had to go into the market again. This time, he just needed honey for some cookies that he wanted to make for dessert. He put on a pair of dad jeans and a gray sweatshirt, and he left out. He drove his same car that he had before. He soon entered Trader Joe's and went straight for the honey, and then he saw her.
"I am so blessed enough to finally see you again." Spoke Gabriel.
"Hi." Greeted the woman from the bar years ago. She was feverish to behold him.
"What is your name? I have been wondering that for years now."
"Jasmine."
"Wow. That is lovely."
"What is yours?"
"Gabriel."
"I really like that name."
"Thank you."
They stared at one another for a moment. Jasmine and Gabriel were simply smitten by one another. Despite Jasmine donning on a pair of dreadfully unflattering clothes such as the oversized gray sweatpants that she was wearing along with her huge black sweatshirt, and, not to mention, her beat-up Van sneakers. Her hair was in a messy bun that was frizzy, yet pretty.
"What are you buying?" Inquired Jasmine with a jovial grin. Gabriel smiled.
"I'm buying honey. What are you buying?"
"I'm getting some milk."
"That's nice."
"Yeah, I'm going to make some cookies for desert tonight."
"Wow, how ironic."
"What? Are you going to do the same thing too?"
"Yes, and that is why I needed the honey." Laughed Gabriel.
"And that is why I needed the milk."
Jasmine and Gabriel laughed at one another and the irony of the situation.
"I don't mean to pry, and you don't have to answer if you don't want to, but what happened to the girl that I last saw you with. She was very pretty."
"Yes, she is. And you're not prying. It's a fair question. She's married to my best friend, Khaleel, now."
Jasmine's eyes widened and she felt contrite. "Dang, I apologize. That is so sad."
"No, it's alright. It was actually better off that way."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
"Well, that's good that you are content about it."
