"Okay, so for this problem we have the derivative of the function. So the derivative of a function is f '(a)= f(a+h)-f(a)/h" This makes zero sense! That's the expression Bose is making right now. I don't blame him Calculus 1 isn't exactly an easy subject. The topic we're working on right now is actually pretty easy but I don't know why textbooks make it so hard to understand. Bose scratches the back of his head, looking as if he was just defeated by the final boss of an action, open world, merciless role-playing game; it just can't be avoided. "Yea I still don't get it."
I giggle at his self defeat, not because it's funny, his expression is just kinda cute. Hey I know what you all are thinking. Just shush you don't know anything!
"Okay it's alright. Let's try an example; they're usually easier to understand. So for a function we have f(x)=x^2 +8x-9. So to get f'(x) you take any numbers that has x and multiply their exponent by the coefficient. So x^2 will become 2x^1 or 2x th-" I was surprisingly cut off by Bose. "So that means 8x just becomes 8 right?"
Awesome! He understands it but that's to be expected. A lot of people look at Bose like he's an airhead but actually Bose is incredibly smart; this guy knows 4 languages after all. I honestly believe he could take over the world if he so desired but let's hope he doesn't. "Yea exactly! See I knew you would get it." He looks relieved and gives me a small smile. "Only cause I have an amazing tutor." I roll my eyes playfully at the complement and nudge him. "How about you stick to drawing instead of flirting O'Brian. C'mon lets keep working." He laughs it off and we continue working on our math homework.
"Ugghh I need break my brain feels like mush." Bose throws his arms up into the air and falls back onto the couch acting as if he just died. Well that came out of nowhere. My laughter began to finally die down as I became aware that he made me laugh at his rarely shown quirky personality. I crossed my arms while smirking at him. "Isn't your brain already considered mush?" He points his finger at me but couldn't help but smile from my comment. "Hey don't start princess." Look who's talking Mr. 'I Always Flirt with my Best Friend'. I roll my eyes at him and stand up beginning to make my way from the living room towards the kitchen. "Whatever. I'm gonna grab a drink. You want something?" Bose stands up as well and follows me. "Thanks, I'll just grab it myself."
I grab some strawberry sparkling water while he grabs a mini sprite. Bose takes a sip of his sprite as if he was preparing himself for something and turns to me. "Hey can I talk to about something?" Curious, I find myself nodding at him. "Sure. Whats up?" He slowly walks towards me, avoiding eye contact by dragging his finger on the island countertop. "It's about earlier today." Earlier today?? Oh right! He ate my sandwich! I really wanted it too... "Oh right... you owe me a sandwich," I say as I glare at him. He looks me weirdly almost like he's thinking 'Is she serious?'.
"No not that! Earlier today..." He walks closer until we're side by side facing away from the island in my kitchen, looking down at his feet. What is he talking about? "What else happe-" Bose rolled his eyes at my forgetfulness and showed me what he meant. He quickly moved from my side to directly in front of me placing both of his hands on the island behind me reminding me of a similar situation in a certain closet. "Oh." He leans closer towards me recreating the little distance we had between us earlier today. "Yea."
Oh no, he's doing it again. My nervousness begins to rise as his stare intensifies and his brown eyes seem like they've gotten darker. Lately, his demeanor has been changing so abruptly, like he's unable to control his emotions, let alone there intensity. He always seems to catch me off guard whenever it happens, making me nervous, but he never makes me feel scared or unsafe. I'll say this much: it definitely intrigues me, but I also can't help but feel a bit worried about him.
