It's been a week since Dina's reaction. She's back to being her usual happy and smiling child. However, Miles... He's scared for his life. Lately he's been silent during car rides, checking his phone every second and he hasn't slept in his apartment since the hospital.

I'm laying on my back in bed, it's late and my mind is spinning. My phone vibrates and I pick it up to see Miles's facetime ID. I answer.

"Hey, what are you doing up this late?" I ask, my voice a bit raspy from tiredness.

"I could ask you the same," he responded. I roll my eyes and let out a frustrated sigh.

"You called me" I argue.

"You answered," he argued back.

"Miles" I say in a tired voice, rubbing my temples with the tip of my fingers.

"Sorry, I'll hang up" he sounds and looks exhausted, sad, drained and stressed.

"No," I say "what's wrong?" there's a long silent pause on the other side.

"Nothing" he whisperes "I don't even know why I called you" the sentence digs at my heart by the tone of his voice.

"That's such bullshit, Miles" I start getting frustrated and I can see the hesitation in his eyes.

"Dina. Every night she wakes up and walks to Emilia and dad's room. She walks by my room and I hear her little footsteps" he finally tells me with slight breakage in his voice.

"I'm not sure I understand" I tell him, not knowing what this has to do with him being up or calling me.

"It's driving me insane. I can't sleep and I can't keep her safe. She's scared, Diana." He covers his eyes with his hand then pinching the bridge of his nose trying to keep it together.

"Miles" I try calming him. Try being the keyword.

"No," he says "I promised to always look after her and she nearly died because I wasn't there"

"Miles, you're beating yourself up. You can't blame yourself for what happened, you can't be around her twenty-four seven" for a moment he just stares at the screen, at me.

"I know," he replies after a few seconds "It just hurt" Miles looks down for a second and I nod my head with a small reassuring smile.

"I know," I tell him "maybe you should try going back to your apartment and not be in the house" I request.

"Maybe"

There's a small silence where we both just stare at the screen. The two blue eyes staring through the screen are afraid. I'll know because I've seen them before. It's the eyes that show his disappointment in himself, when he thinks he has failed to protect someone he loves.

"Why are you up?" He asks suddenly with tilt in his head.

"Oh, you know" I shrug my shoulders and he raises his eyebrow at me.

"I don't know actually" he argues and I'm debating on telling him all the thoughts that are going through my mind, however he's better off without them.
