Love me, again.

1:25am

"You got everything you need?"
Dave asked as he helped me pack a couple suitcases to go back to his house. With everything that happened myself nor Dave felt safe about be staying at my place alone. Even if it was just for one night.  "I think so. You ready?" I asked handing him one of the suitcases to roll.

"When do the girls get back from Riley's crib?" He asked as we were loading up the car. "Later on tonight, I'll head there to pick them up." I replied. Getting into separate cars, I made myself comfortable and trailed Dave to his place.

"So you gone leave me for that clown ass nigga?" A familiar voice asked from the backseat. Attempting to grab my phone, he cocked a gun to my head.

"Don't you even think about it bitch." He demanded. "And to think you was different from these other tricks out here." He chuckled. "What the fuck do you want?" I asked.

"You, I've always wanted you." Trell said into my ear as I drove behind Dave who had no idea what was going on. "But nah, everybody said that nigga East had you wrapped around his finger. I didn't believe them, I just knew that I was a good enough nigga for you." He preached.

Hearing him sniff a line of coke I used the few seconds I had to make a move. Instantly adjusting my speed, I hit the back of Dave's car causing a minor accident but enough to get him to stop and get out. "Bitch what the fuck wrong with you huh?! You really wanna send this nigga into an early grave tonight don't you?" Trell said choking me from behind.

"Fuck." He said getting out and approaching Dave's car. "Dave watch out!" I called out but it was too late. His body hit the wet pavement as I watched the fire escape Trell's gun. Making a run for it I was left
alone to care for Dave's limp body. "Dave! No please baby stay with me!" I called 911 and instantly applied pressure to his gunshot wound. "Tell my girls I love them, fuck man. Tell my momma and my sister I love them too." He drifted in and out. "Dave please! No you're not dying on me! No, no,no!" I screamed as I held him in my arms. "You're going to
be okay. You hear those sirens? Those are for you baby,  you're going to be okay. Okay?" I looked into his weary eyes. " I love you ma. I love y—." He said lastly before the paramedics rushed over to him.

Three weeks later

"Come give daddy a kiss before you go off to school." Dave said to Kairi as she was sitting at my vanity applying lip gloss. "She get that fast shit from you." Dave said laughing at her shenanigans. Giving her father a kiss, I walked Kairi downstairs to catch her bus. Now that we were temporarily staying at Dave's house, it made since to sign her up for a school bus.

"Love you mommy!" She said waving at Ava and I as she stepped onto the bus. Watching the bus drive away Ava and I went into the house to start our day. "Look at you! You're getting better." I smiled seeing Dave attempting to do things for himself. "But you know what the doctor said." I informed him. "Yea, yea I know." He said sitting back down on the ottoman.

Placing Ava into her bouncer to keep her busy, I made the bed. Ran Dave's shower water and set up his dressing change. "Please call if you need help. Don't be ashamed, that's what I'm here for." I told him.

After Dave got shot, he needed more assistance than usual. But now he was at the end of his recovery, meaning he was almost back to full function. While Dave showered, I vacuumed the bedroom and straighten up things that were out of place. Because one thing about me was I hated a mess.
