"Bro, open the door." Avery bangs on Kai's dorm room door.
"Damn you ain't even give me a chance. You act like you been out here for three hours." Kai snaps as he opens the door.
"It's cold as shit out here. I need some heat." Avery barks back, rubbing his hands together to get himself some sort of warmth.
"It's gon be more cold out there at Davenport. You think everybody gon be able to stay in the building?" Kai questions his friend as he grabs his black puffer coat and puts it on. "This campus big as hell you know."
"True.. but you know staying in a place with a bunch of people can make it hot. Maybe our bodies can heat that bitch up or somethin."
Shaking his head, Kai walks into the bathroom and turns the light on. He reaches into the cabinet and grabs his scrunchie, tying his freshly individually twisted twists into a man bun at the top of his head. He then grabs his cologne and sprays a couple of sprays amongst his clothes before deciding he's done.
"Aight come on."
Grabbing his phone from the charger, Kai takes the time to put it into his jacket pocket before walking out of the door with his keycard. Turning to the door, he twists the handle a bit to make sure it doesn't open before dumping his key card back into his wallet, following Avery out of his dorm hall and into the cold December night.
He and Avery make their way to the hall in which the party would be held and sure enough, everyone is there. They make their way into the crowded doors and speak to damn near everyone since it seems like everyone from their high school decided to attend the same college as them. It's another thing in which Kai also hated about college. To him, college is a place to get away from everything you're familiar with, including familiar faces, and adapt to a different environment to give yourself a fresh start for a better life.
"Look, there go Mila." Avery points out over the loud music.
Kai looks in the direction of which Avery points and smiles as his eyes fall upon her. There, standing around the table with her friends, is his high school crush. He's never built up the courage to ask her out in high school just because of the simple fact that he thought she was hung up on her ex boyfriend, Maddox, but he somehow has gained the courage now.
"I'm bout to go fuck with that." Kai smiles, showcasing his red rubber bands branched around the brackets of his braces.
"Shid Im coming too. You think I'm bout to miss this? It's about to be the embarrassment of the year!" Avery jokes.
"Man, shorty fine as hell. She deserves to be with somebody who matches her fly." He shrugs.
"Can't be you cause you can't dress for shit."
"Watch out son, I dress way better than you." Kai laughs before making his way over to Mila. "Wassup y'all."
"Hey, wassup Kai, hi." They speak up in unison.
"How was yall semester? Y'all passed your finals?"
"Yeah I did." Caia, one of Mila's friends, speaks up first.
"Same." Peyton, the other friend, speaks soon after.
"I failed my Chemistry final by three points." Mila pouts, obviously upset about the fact that the professor couldn't bump the grade.
"Damn, they could've given that to you."
"That's what I said, but hey, I wanted to change my major anyway." She shrugs.
"What you wanna change it to? You in nursing right now huh?" Kai asks, furrowing his eyebrows.
"Yeah, but I wanna change it to Business."
"That's good. What you trying to sell when you get your own business?"
"Lashes, lipgloss, anything really. I kinda already have an idea of how I wanna sell my lipgloss."
"Ouu. She wanna make the tube of the lipgloss a mirror and the stick part have an LED light so that girls can be able to put their lipgloss on in the dark or even on the go when you don't have a mirror." Peyton speaks with enthusiasm, obviously happy her friend is going through with the idea.
"That's tight I'm not even gon cap. What you gon sell for the men?"
"Men?" Caia furrows her eyebrows before chuckling, causing the other girls to laugh as well.
"Yeah. It's not hard to believe that a man wants to support your business too. We just ain't gon buy no lashes or lipgloss we need something for us like some durags or facial stuff for our beards or something."
"Hmmm.. I'll have to think about that." Mila smiles.
"Mind giving me your number then? That way we can talk business."
"I don't just give my number out to anybody."
"But you we the thing is, I'm not just anybody. I'm a potential business partner." He cheeses.
"Just give him your number Mila, what's the worse that can happen." Peyton smirks, nudging Mila's arm in the process.
"You're right."
Mila holds her hand out and waits for Kai to hand her his cell phone. Once he does, she uses the free time to input her information into a new contact before handing it back to Kai. Looking over the contact, he makes a face when he realizes she's added her address as well as a message in the note section that reads 'come see me sometime😉'
"Don't be afraid to use it." Mila smirks before turning to walk away.
"Wait, hold up." Kai speaks up, getting Mila to turn back around and face him.
"How do I know if this is really your number?"
"Call it and see." She shrugs. "I don't have anything to hide."
Doing as told, Kai presses the call icon and waits patiently as he hears the ringing from his end. Once they both hear the phone ringing from Mila's purse, Mila raises her eyebrow as to say 'I told you so' before walking away.
That's all he needed to hear. He finally has the girl of his dreams and he's going to do everything in his power to keep her.
