The next few hours are the most stressful ones in his life. He doesn't know what to do, every scenario that plays in his head is turning into a huge disaster somehow. Namjoon could have probably told him what he should do, but the time difference stops Yoongi from calling him. Besides, his tingling skin is telling him that this decision he should make by himself.
So finally he does what he always does - he leaves it to an accident.
Grabbing his mum's car keys seems like the only solution. Yoongi likes to drive around - at some point it was the only way for him to separate anxiety from reality and now it still helps him with clearing his mind. He rarely does that in LA - he lacks free time as well as gas money - but back in high school days, it was his favorite activity (after writing music and organizing rap battles with Hoseok of course). Sometimes he was taking Hobi with him (when he needed someone to drown out his thoughts) or even Tae (when he needed someone to share a comfortable silence with).
So that's what he is going to do now - just drive. And if he's going to park in front of Jung's house at one point of the night - his subconscious will call the shots.
But his mind doesn't take him there. Instead he finds himself in a parking lot of his old school, where he wasted way too many years and too many nerves. An idea of smoking here seems like a huge middle finger for his homeroom teacher, so he does just that, stepping out of a car, lighting a cigarette, his gaze plastered to the dirty windows.
It feels like the Yoongi from high school and the Yoongi he is now, are completely different people. Both sarcastic and cynical and maybe not in a good relationship with their own feelings but the younger one still had this faith in the world and in himself, childish dreams and expectations. Still had a heart. The current Yoongi has only leftovers of passion, an empty bank account and bitterness coming from the void in his chest.
"I thought it was you."
Well, it seems that although he lost his heart years ago, it can clearly still hear him, moreover stand right in front of him in the beautiful form of Kim Taehyung.
"Oh, hi."
"Are you going to Hobi's?" Tae looks good in a long camel coat and black beret, almost like he finished some high-end fashion show just a few minutes ago. He's always been cute, but now he's also hotter than hell and Yoongi thinks that maybe this is his wicked punishment for leaving the boy all those years ago.
Guilt, guilt, guilt.
Regret?
"I'm still thinking about it."
"Why? He was so excited to see you. He really wants you to come" the younger shrugs and then after a second of hesitation he adds "He missed you, Hyung."
Yoongi wants to ask if Hobi was the only one who missed him, but it wouldn't be fair of him to do that. So instead he draws his cigarettes.
"Want some?"
"Oh, yeah. Thanks."
He didn't expect Taehyung to actually accept the offer, but at the same time he shouldn't be surprised - he always had a bad influence on the boy.
"Just, don't tell Bogumie, okay? He doesn't like it when I smoke."
Aish, Park Bogum. The subject's surfacing earlier than Yoongi suspected.
"You two seem close. Hobi told me you're not together though, so what's going on?"
"We're friends. Just like we always were."
