As he walked away, I stared at him terrified. Stay away? Why? "Y/N." What does he need to tell me? "Y/N!" Again, I just met him yesterday. He could be lying. "Y/N!!!" No, I shouldn't take that risk. I should at least wait until he has explained. "Y/N!!!!!!!!!!!!!" "Huh? Oh, sorry." I said. "What'd he say to you?" Bella asked. "Oh, he just wanted to remind me to meet him afterschool." I lied. "Okay, again, don't trust everything he says." Bella reminded me. I'm very glad Bella is my friend. If I was her, I would probably not believe all of this shade business. "I'll see you tomorrow, stay safe!" Bella giggled. As she walked away, I got done with my food and headed to class.
~
The final bell of the day rang. Relieved I survived another day, I headed upstairs to where the clubroom is. I knocked on the door, hoping I didn't get the wrong room. As the door slid open, a boy greeted me. The same boy that Bella was gushing about earlier.
"Hello, I'm Akihito. May I know what you're here for?"
"Uhm, is this the literature club?"
"Yep. Wait, are you here to join?"
"Oh, I'm not. It's just, Hiroomi asked me to come by the clubroom afterschool today."
"I see. Come on in, Hiroomi said he'll be back soon. He went to go grab a book he forgot from his desk. He won't take long. You can have a seat while you wait."
"Thank you. Also, I'm Y/N."As I sit down in the seat he motioned towards, I look around. There's a bunch of bookshelves full of books, most of which I'd probably never read. I've never really liked reading, I usually only like manga.
"Hey, I'm back. Oh, you're already here." Hiroomi said.
"Hi. So could you elaborate on what you said at lunch?" I asked.
Ever since he told me, stay away from Izumi Nase, I've been extremely curious. It seemed like the only thing my brain could think of the rest of the day.
"Sure thing, but first, Akihito, do you mind if you leave for a little bit?"
"Okay.." Akihito said.
"Thanks a bunch!" Hiroomi beamed.
Akihito left the room, and Hiroomi took a seat down.
He looked straight into my eyes, and smiled. That smile reassured me that his explanation won't be too bad. Right?
His face expression suddenly turned serious.
"I'll make this short. So, Izumi Nase wants your head."
What.
"The reason why is because an incredibly powerful shade is going to come soon. And by killing you, she will somehow gain your power to use against said shade."Power?
"Any questions?"
Questions. Very many.
Instead, I sat there stunned. Trying to process what he just blurted out of his mouth.
"Hey, you good? I knew I should've given you the long explanation. Well, to late now."
"So... Why does she think I have power? I mean, I don't go to the gym. And how would killing me give her my power?"
"This power is spiritual power. Not physical power."
"Spiritual power? I think you've mistaken. I don't have any of that."
"The fact that you can see shades is proof you have spiritual power. Let me show you what you can do with it."
Hiroomi raises his hand and points it toward a chair. A strange cube formed around the chair, as if it was a shield.
"My talent is creating barriers. All spirit hunters have a different talent. My sister Mitsuki, she has a pet that'll take down shades for her. That's one of the many examples of a power." Hiroomi explained."Woah, can I do that? That's so cool!" I rejoiced. Maybe this whole shade thing isn't all bad.
"Now to answer your 2nd question. The reason why killing you would give her your power is, I don't really know."
Eh
"I tried to look into it myself, but she is very good at hiding stuff. For now, all I can do is to protect you." Hiroomi smiled.
"I'll make sure to take extra special care of you." Hiroomi grinned.
The door bursts open, revealing a black haired girl."Hiroomi. Why'd you kick Akihito out, and why are you with a girl alone?"
"Hey, Mitsuki! I promise I wasn't doing anything perverted-"
This must be the girl he was talking about earlier, his sister. She looks very pretty.
"Poor girl, he must've hurt you. Are you okay? I'm Mitsuki, and are somehow related to him. Did he do anything?" Mitsuki apologized.
"I'm okay, he didn't do anything. He just wanted to.. talk."
I didn't feel like explaining the entire chat, so I looked at Hiroomi to signal he should do it.
"Yeah, we were just talking about the new school year. Anyways, where'd Akihito go?" Hiroomi mentioned.
Wait, why'd he lie? Oh right, we don't know if Mitsuki is in on that plan too. I guess I'll just have to play along.
"Hey, why didn't you guys tell me you were done?" Akihito chimed in.
"Oh hello, didn't see you there you pervert." Mitsuki said in response.
Ok, is everybody a pervert? Or is she telling the truth? Probably not. They both seem like nice people. It'd be a shame if they were.
"Speaking of pervert, I should examine you Y/N."
"Wait examine? For what?" I pondered.
"To see if you are my type." Hiroomi said surprisingly calm.
I hesitated, blushing at how he said that so easily.
"Hm, I'll have to decide later."
Hiroomi got back up, and put his mouth to my ear again.
"Make sure not to mention of what I said earlier to anybody." Hiroomi whispered.
"Hey Y/N, put on these glasses! I bet you'd look awesome in them." Akihito pleaded. Mitsuki snatched the glasses out of his hands, and threw it out the window. "You will not be doing that, you pervert. And Hiroomi, don't get close to her. I wouldn't want you to infect her with your disgustingness." Mitsuki insulted. Wow, she's not hesitant to be rude at all. I wish I could do that, act without the worry of others judging. "Y/N, you should probably go back home if you and Hiroomi are done with your.. 'chat.' Again, let me know if he does anything perverted to you. I'll make sure to punch him in the face for you. "Hahaha... thanks for the offer. Bye guys." As the 3 of them waved goodbye, I had a lot of crap to think about. Guess I won't be getting any sleep today.
