First day at Hexside. I definitely need to prepare myself.

My uniform has a red sleeve, an orange sleeve, and a pair of blue leggings, along with a dark gray hooded top.

"Not bad," I say to myself. It's definitely better than the past uniforms I've had to wear.

I quickly look through Penstagram, and see messages from Emmalyn and Vera.

Emmalyn
first day at ur new school right? knock em dead ro!

(aloe) Vera
if anyone even attempts to make fun of you, i'll personally come over and feed them to my cobra lily.

I laugh and text them thanks, and go downstairs.

I see a whole buffet of food. Waffles, bacon and scrambled griffin eggs (my personal favorite).

"I figured since it's your first day, I would cook a feast to celebrate" my dad smiles.

I go over and give him a hug. "Aw, thanks dad. I'll definitely need the fuel"

I shovel the food into my mouth, savoring the sweetness of the syrup on the waffles, and the saltiness of the bacon.

After I finish eating, I check my watch.

7:30 am. Perfect, just enough time to get to school by walking. I can get my steps in, and see what kind of town I'm working with.

I get up, and grab my pack. "Bye mom!" I shout up. "Bye dad!" I give him a quick hug, and I walk out the door.

I walk through the market, and look around.

"People seem nice enough around here, probably some rebels around here since there are a lot of guards around" I think to myself.

Suddenly, I hear a large crash from right behind me. A dark figure figure runs past me, and disappears into the crowd. It strangely resembled an owl.

"What the-?"

I hear another person running, and I turn around to see who it is.

The figure couldn't stop themself in time to see me in the way, and crashes right into me.

Right now, I describe the event quite calmly. In the time it takes for me to fall to the ground with the stranger on top of me, I thought to myself, a mixture of "why" and "AHHSKDBFSOFBS"

I groan, and try to sit up. I take in the appearance of the person who rammed into me.

They wore a golden mask, with a slit in the middle to see through. They also wore a white cloak with a sigil resembling one of the Emperors Coven on it, although it wasn't exactly the same. Who does this random guard think they are?

"Excuse me, but do you have any idea what the action of stopping is?" I ask him.

He gets off of me and brushes the dirt off his uniform.

"You should show a high ranking member of the Emperors Coven some respect, I was merely chasing a wanted fugitive and you got in my way" he scoffed.

"High ranking coven official? You're just some guard with a fancy cloak and mask. Respect is earned, not given." I retort.

"Some guard with a fancy cloak and mask?!" He exclaimed. "I'll have you know that I am the Golden Guard, and I rank higher then any guard here!"

"Well, Goldie, I'm going to be late for class. If you'll excuse me, I would like to leave. Good luck on your fugitive chase, and watch your mouth next time I have the misfortune of running into you" I pick up my bag, and start walking away.

"Hey- Don't call me-" he stuttered.

"Bye!" I shouted back.

Great, that whole encounter took way longer than it needed to be. I only have around 10 minutes to get to Hexside on foot.

I start running, and I get there right before the bell rings. It's just my luck that this happened on the first day of school.
