Fully moved in. Finally. My back hurts from carrying boxes up stairs for a week straight. All I have to worry about now is enrolling in a new school, making friends at said school, and achieving top grades in all the classes I'm taking in order to qualify for the Emperor's Coven.
Easy as cake.
In all honesty, the second one is probably the hardest. Talking to new people isn't a strong suit of mine. Usually when I'm in these situations I:
A) Don't talk to anyone, and getting deemed as a loner
B) Work up the courage to go talk to someone only to embarrass myself and never talk to them again out of shame
C) Wait for someone to approach me, and gradually warm up to them over time, and then become clingy in fear of them ditching me for someone more interestingMaybe this is why I don't have many friends.
Sadly, my parents can't relate. They're both extroverts, and have friends literally everywhere. I have no idea when, or how they have so many friends but I obviously didn't inherit the trait of social confidence.
Out of the two, my dad has the better sense of humor, so he was the one that went to the interview with me with the principal of the school, Principal Bump.
Blah blah blah, what my dad's job was, blah blah blah, what were my interests, the usual school interview I've heard too many times before. However, one question caught me off guard.
"So, Miss Moenia, are you interested in taking multiple tracks? Here at Hexside we give students the option of learning different types of magic, and not subjected to choosing just one" Principal Bump said.
I've never been to a school like that before. The track I specialized in was Illusions. Were there any other tracks that I was interested in? My mom is in the Healing Coven, and my brother's in the Bard Coven. Should I consider those tracks in my answer?
Calm down, I thought to myself. It was only a decision that would change what magic I specialized in entirely, and may jeopardize my plan to get into the Emperor's Coven.
I thought about it for a couple more seconds, and I told Principal Bump my answer.
"Illusions, Bard, and Beast Keeping are all magic I would like to learn" I said.
"Splendid!" Principal Bump exclaimed. "We'll have you in those tracks right away. It will be a delight to have you at our school Miss Moenia. We'll see you Monday."
I exhaled. Titan, that was a lot more nerve-racking then it should have been.
Principal Bump showed me and my dad out of the building, and we headed home.
"Are you sure those are the tracks you want to be put in?" my dad asked. "It'll be hard to balance not one, but three different types of magic to be studying all in one school year. If you want, I can go back and ask-"
"No dad, it's alright." I tell him. "It'll be no sweat. I'll tell you if things are getting difficult, I swear"
"Ok then" my dad replies. "Just know that me and mom are there to help you if things get tough ok?"
"Alrighty, dearest father, you have nothing to worry about" I respond jokingly.
He ruffles my hair, and we head back home.
