I casually stroll the familiar hallways of my school when suddenly I feel a vibration against my leg. I reach down into my pocket and pull out my brand-new iPhone. Right away my face turns up in disgust as I see the text message telling me that the sender was Harmony. I'm not even sure how she got my new number to begin with but that was beside the point. I hadn't spoken to her since the field trip to the beach year, and now that I was a junior I had no time or energy to give to her bullshit.

Ice, true to his word, would end up very quickly getting to the bottom of Harmony's lies. As the story turned out, she started that rumor herself in some feeble and honestly half-witted attempt to make Joseph jealous. I guess she figured the only real way to get back at him was through his only real close friend, seeing how Joseph had been all but ignoring her entire existence, information I only knew through conversations I'd had with Ice. Setting aside how bad of an idea this was even in theory, in practice, it turned out to be even worse as it backfired badly. Harmony likely didn't account for the fact that Ice was a very direct person with an explosive attitude. It's not something she would know having not really been afforded a chance to get to know him, but when he got to the bottom of the rumors she had been spreading he walked directly into the girls volleyball practice and cussed her out in front of everybody. The entire situation had to be humiliating for her because Ice pulled no punches. I unfortunately had a front row seat because the JV and Varsity Volleyball teams shared a gym for practice. I'll just say that hadn't seen Ice that angry since the day he fought my ex boyfriend. I almost felt bad for her, but she had brought all of that on her self.

I quickly block the number and head into my first class of my first day. To my surprise I was elated to see Ice sitting in the back of the class, minding his business like he sometimes does. His hair was braided back into the two French braids that I had put into his hair last night and he was wearing what was clearly a new school hoodie since I still clearly had the one he had "loaned" to me last year. Or was it the year before? Either way that was besides the point. We made eye contact and he seemly explodes with new life as a smile jumps onto his face. I quickly hurry over to take the seat next to his.

"So you just decided not to tell me that we had this class together?!" I fuss at him.

"How was I supposed to do that? You ain't even  tell me you had this class in the first place!" He counters.

"Well we been in school together two years and ain't hadn't shared a single class. I assumed the universe had it out for us."

"And that's my fault?"

"I say it is"

Ice laughs.

"I don't think it works like that Icy."

"Yes it does. 'Cuz I say it does. Do we have anymore classes together that you aren't telling me about?"

"How I'm supposed to know that? How do I know it isn't you that hiding classes from me."

"Well if you pull out your damn schedule we could find out!".

Ice chuckles and reaches down into his customized backpack. He pulls a half piece of paper and we compare it to mines, looking over the seven total classes on both our schedules. To my dismay I discover that this would be the only class he and I was going to be attending together.

"Damn we only got this class together." I say aloud.

"Seems like it. I guess the universe was only willing to give us this small ass win."

"Right?! And it wasn't even trying to give us that for real. First class of the day and it pre-calculus."

"Yea that's some bullshit right there".
