It was Friday afternoon and I sat in Kit's room while he found something to wear to the Legacy Dance.

"What are you wearing?" Kit asked me while I sat on his bed.

"A yellow dress, why?" I questioned.

"I'll go with the yellow tie then," Kit smiled as I looked confused.

"So we are going to match?" I stood up when he pulled the tie out of his closet.

"Yep, why not? Everyone in our school thinks we're dating and it's spreading all over the internet," Kit smiled and wrapped his arms around me.

"They aren't wrong but aren't right either," I said wrapping my arms around Kit.

"Eh, we've been out on a date. We just haven't made it official yet,"

"That date, was me freaking out over which dress to choose," I pointed out to him.

"You got both and finally chose yesterday,"

"Yeah, yeah," I pulled away and looked at the time. "I gotta get home, I'll see you tomorrow,"

"Wait," Kit walked over and pulled me into a hug, "I have a question for you,"

"Ok," I pulled back a little and saw he was nervous.

"Can I kiss you?" Kit said pretty fast.

"Of course, you can," I answered almost automatically. Kit moved towards me and I moved towards him. Our lips connected and my stomach collected butterflies. Kit pulled away as we both needed to breathe. "I do need to leave, Kit," I said catching my breath.

"I don't want you to,"

"Kit, my mom has something for me, I need to go see what it is," I didn't want to leave but I knew I had to.

"Ok, but if you can, come to see me later. I want to watch Corpse Bride with you, especially with it being one of your favorite movies,"

"I definitely will try," I grabbed my jacket and walked to my house. When I got outside I saw the extra cars outside and got nervous. "I'm home,"

"Scarlett, come to the table. Dinner's done," mom's voice called me over there. I walked in and saw two men, one was my father and one I'd never met. My heart constricted, I sat in my normal seat where I wasn't by my father.

"What's going on here?" I asked, my heart beating faster.

"I'll explain in a minute, Scarlett," mom said as she sat down.

"Let's eat then we will all explain," my father added. I nodded and slowly ate the food on my plate. After we finished mom moved to sit between the two other people in my house. My phone went off and I quickly checked it.
