— AN INCESSANT BEEPING HAD AWOKEN, Alison Klein from her short, temporary coma. She awoke with a massive headache, the obnoxiously persistent beeping of her heart-monitor had left her feeling like her brain was throbbing inside her skull.
She reached up to hold her throbbing head, just then noticing all of the needles and wires connecting her to various machines. She panicked at the sight and began ripping all of the pens and needles from her wrists, not caring about harming herself.
After ripping them all out; her heart-monitor began a long and unfaltering noise, causing her mind to wirl, the room spinning around her, Her mind just barely grasping the fact that she was now in the hospital, and for what reason? She did not know.
Nurses were suddenly flooding the room at the alert the monitor gave them. Once they'd seen she was completely fine— except that she was completely freaking out —they calmed down slightly, coming down from their own panic before quickly trying to console her from her own.
"Hey, hey, it's okay now, miss." One of the nurses said in a soft, comforting voice. "Do you know your name?" The nurse asked politely, once Alison had begun to calm down.
"Y-yes, Alison Klein. Umm, w-what happened, wh-"
"I am not sure, Ms. Klein. But you're safe now in the hospital and are being taken great care of by experts." The nurse replied, unable to answer Alison's question but managing to calm her.
"Am I hurt?" She didn't feel any pain, but asked anyways, still a bit concerned for herself.
"No, you seemed to be completely fine aside from your coma, but you still managed to give us all quite a scare." The still nameless nurse said in a joking tone, a kind smile pulling at her lips as well as Alison's.
Nurse Rosario...
Alison read to herself the name printed across the woman's name-tag. "Well, I'll have Dr. Clarke come in to check up on you and ask you some questions." Nurse Rosario, said smiling before leaving.
"What the fuck did I do?" Alison asked alloud to herself, thinking up numerous amounts of scenarios that could've possibly lead to her being hospitalized, but each time she came up empty handed. She had not a clue as to what lead her here.
After a short while of waiting, who she assumed was Dr. Clarke, walked in. The doctor wore a long, white coat and held a clipboard and pen in his hand. Pale, wrinkly skin and pearly white hair, he had a lazy but kind smile adorning his face along with some thin-rimmed reading glasses. Definitely the doctor, she thought to herself.
"I'm Dr. Harris Clarke, here to ask you a few questions like how you're feeling and other stuff alike." he smiled, tapping the clipboard with his pen. Alison only nodded, not really feeling like talking anymore than she already had to.
"From one to ten how much pain are you in?" The doctor asked.
"One, I have a headache and that's it." was Alison's simple reply. "I don't understand why I'm here." she half-stated half-asked , hoping for some type of answer.
