Chapter 12

Michaels POV

I straighten at the words 'good news' but fall back down at the words 'bad news'. God I hope shailene is alright! I couldn't continue life without her, life is fucked! Shailene doesn't know I have depression, anxiety, and I self harm, I know how she feels. Before I came to California, I tried to commit suicide, by hanging myself, I failed. On the first day of the 2nd week of school I saw a girl, beautiful brown hair, and mesmerising hazel eyes, Shailene , well she gave me something to live for.
"The good news is, Shailene is in a stable condition and should wake up in the next 24 hours" I let out a sigh,
"The bad news is" CRAP I forgot there was bad news, I brace myself for the worst, "Shailene had lost a lot of blood and will need to be under care for the next 1 to 2 weeks," the doctor said quietly
"She can come home right?" I say
"Yes but, does she have family?" The doctor questions me.
Should I tell him that her dad abuses her?
"Um yes she does, but I don't think they will be capable of taking care of her" I say being careful not to say too much
"Okay" doctor Martin pauses and thinks
"She can stay with me," I offer
"Yes, but might you have to discuss with your parents?"
"Yes, I'm sure they will be fine" I say back
"Agh!!!" I hear an agonising scream "where am I? MICHAEL WHATS GOING ON?" Shailene screams
"Sshh" I stroke her head
"What am I doing here" she sobs.
Shailene looks at her arms
"D-did I-I do that?" She cries
I slowly nod my head, she cringes.
"I'll leave you two alone" doctor Martin say as he closes the door behind him
"Hey" I whisper to Shailene

Shailene's POV

"Michael, I don't feel very w" before I can finish my sentence I throw up all over myself,
"I'm so sorry" I explain to Michael
"Don't worry, it happens" he replies
"Should we alert someone?"
"Do they have housekeeping?" I laugh at Michaels pathetic comment,
"What it was a legit ament question!" He teases, this makes me laugh even more
"Your so cute" I say, I would kiss him, but I probably taste disgusting!

30 mins later

Michaels POV

I helped the nurse get Shailene cleaned up, I feel so bad for her.
Shailene has fallen asleep, I slide underneath the rough covers of her uncomfortable hospital bed, she cuddles close to me.

Shailene's POV

I feel Michaels warm body lie beside me, I put my head onto his shoulder, I feel protected.

11 am

Michaels POV

I wake up to shailenes arm wrapped around my stomach and her head on my chest, I stroke her hair, careful not to wake her up, she is beautiful, even when she sleeps,
"Good morning" Shailene says as she rubs her eyes

Shailenes POV

My head is on Michaels warm chest, I lay there listening to his repetitive heart beat
"Good morning" I say, my voice barely there
"Gods morning beautiful" Michael says in his raspy morning voice. His hair is messy, but he still looks so good!
I reluctantly get up, Michael puts his head on my shoulder and I rest my head on top of his. I stroke his soft, wavy, brown hair.

3 o'clock

Michaels POV

I stare at Shailene who is asleep, wires streaming from her body, machines constantly beeping.

"Michael," Shailene says
"Yes" I reply
"I think that my arms have been bleeding" she says with a concerned look on her face.
She must be delusional, with all of the drugs they have in her.
I lift up her blanket to reveal that the mattress is stained red. HOLY FUCKING GOD WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?
"It's going to be alright" I say, knowing that it's not going to be
"I'm not feeling to well" Shailene says, I look at her face which is pale
I search frantically for the emergency button. It's right next to the bed, I press it, nothing happenes.
"MICHAEL I REALLY DONT FEEL WELL" Shailene says, her face is so pale and her lips are blue, the blankets are stained with blood, all over.
Shailene leans over the bed and throws up, it's red, not good.
"Michael help me please" she says in agony,
I look over at her monitors, all seems well.
