CHAPTER ONE.

quick summary : S4 timeline except no vecna or upside down stuff happened El doesn't have powers Mike and El aren't a couple anymore and eleven is popular but will is getting bullied. also just pretend no one ever lived in Hawkins they just all live in California and since el doesnt have powers they just call her 'Jane' and will and el are biological sibling and hop is their dad

WILL POV

Being a third wheel on your birthday is not enjoyable. Especially when your long time best friend (and crush) forgets.  While we're skating around the rink in the new roller-skating place called 'Rink-O-Mania' Jane suggests milkshakes, they serve them free which is nice.

I get a strawberry milkshake, Mike gets the same one and Jane gets a Vanilla one. We go over to our seats and Mike and Jane sit opposite to me, happily chatting then I notice the package Mike is holding. While I think of the possibilities Mikes voice snaps me back to reality he says "Will! Can I speak to you for a second?" I'm confused on why he wants to talk to to me but I just end up saying "Okay." Mike leads me into an unused storage room and my mind starts making up fantasies of all sorts but then Mike holds out the package and says,

"You didn't really think I could forget your birthday right?"

I stand there speechless for a good 40 seconds until I say "Thank you so so much Mike."

He looks at me and says " Go ahead open it, it's not much but I knew you would like it. Oh and I made you a card!" He hands me a blue envelope and in black pen it says "For Will" I gently open the packaging to see a picture of all of our party celebrating our D & D win, and a homemade figure of my character Will the wise, along with a new painting set. "D-Do you like it?" I stare at it in awe "Are you insane? This is the best present I've ever got! " I can feel the massive smile on my face then Mike does the same smile "I'm really happy about that! Now open the card." I tear the blue envelope open And the card is white except for the words on the top in black marker "HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILL" I open the card to see :

Dear Will..

I hope you enjoy your presents I spent so long on that figure I lost count of the days! I hope you have the best day you could hope for!

LOVE MIKE

Will's eyes just focused on the word "love" he has saw in the old letters that mike sent to Jane when they were dating he said "from mike" not 'love mike' could mike like him back? No he was getting his hopes up...but maybe

MIKE POV

Mike was extremely happy that Will was happy just seeing Will smile made him happy. I notice him staring at the birthday letter for an weirdly long reason the card wasn't that big.."Will, is there something wrong with my card?" Will seems to snap out of his own head and accidentally drops the card. "Oh sorry-" Curiosity got the best of Mike he read through the card and noticed immediately what Will was staring at He said "LOVE" in a card to best friend, he was so scared he had ruined his friendship with Will because of a silly word, but to his surprise Will blurted out "Are you free this evening?" I didn't expect to hear that but I wasn't so we made plans to go to the cinema together.

TIMESKIP TO THE CINEMA

Joyce drove Mike and Will and Joyce said happy birthday and gave him a small present before he went in. They decided to ask Jane if she wanted to come or not, just in case but she showed no interest in going she was to busy hanging out with Max. They were having a sleepover,

so it was just two sixteen year old boys going to watch a sci-fi film. They went to go buy popcorn Mike started to order one large popcorn and one medium popcorn with two Coca Colas.
