The boys

Chapter 2- Summer Festival Part.1

It was Saturday morning,  the last few hours before the school summer festival. The last preparation were on Friday and all the stands of all the different class or clubs were already ready to welcome the students and other peoples that would be here. Cole and June woke up at the same time, around 7 a.m to prepare and meet with the other members of the group. 

Julie was already awake since a long time, she was working from home but she was working a lot. Maybe even too much. 

"-Hello kids ! Are you too already heading to the festival ? Am I the one who is late here ? 

-Nah don't worry mama.  June walked to their mother and kissed her on the chick grabbing at the same time two slices of cake for her and Cole. 

-We are heading to Uncle Tom's house first... To meet with everyone.  

Answered to her the oldest boy. 

-Ho... I see. Well, have fun then ! Come on kids, you don't want to keep waiting your friends."

The two teenagers nodded and headed outside putting, on the way, their shoes and grabbing Cole's guitar. Uncle Tom said that he would come to the festival because he wanted to help them, so of course as usual, he would be taking them to school grabbing one by one the kids of the band. When Cole and June arrived Leon was already here talking with him and showing his excitement. All of them got into Uncle Tom's van, obviously he decided to bring his own drum so the place at the back was pretty tight. The school festival banner had been made by June's class and it was quite big actually, suspended above the school gate announcing in big : "Oakland International High School's Summer Festival !!"

The stage was already set up and the last stands setting up were the foods stands, Uncle Tom was already actively talking with Mr.Pearson, they were in school together and they shared the same passion so they stayed friends after. June was helping some girls of her form to build a plastic tumbler pyramid and Leon was helping setting the last things up for all the lights and the music, he was very good at tech like this. Cole and Ash were standing here, looking at all the stands and everything that was prepared for the festival, it was a very important one especially for 12th grade students because it was their last day in high school. 

"-Aren't you, hum, supposed to meet up with Jayden, Ash ?  

-Well, yes but I don't want to leave you alone. And I still have a little bit of time. 

-Don't worry for me. I'll go with Leon. 

-You're sure ? I can stay with you it's okay.

-I'm sure. Come on go meet your boyfriend."

They looked at each other and both spared, Ash went to the school field to meet with the brown haired boy, actually for seeing them next to each other, Jayden was not that tall. Looking at Leon, Cole realized he didn't need any help so the young boy just decided to go in the building, hiding in classrooms was his best talent. It was the first time that he wasn't pushed against a wall or that no one was making him trip in the corridors, it was the first time that they were so empty. On his way to Mr.Pearson's classroom he walked over a blond boy struggling to hold almost ten boxes in his two hands, he wanted to help him but he didn't knew him. As hard as it was for him to speak to people who were outside of his "world" this boy weirdly seems nice. 

"-Hum... Hello ? 

The tall boy lift his head up to show his face, light brown eyes, hiding his curly dark blond hair under a red beanie, his face slightly red from the effort he was giving holding all those boxes. He looked at Cole for a good ten seconds before answering.  

-Ho, hum... Hi ! Can I help you ? 

-Well... Can I help you ? I don't need help. But you...

-Ho ! Please ...

His face. The poor boy gave a tired gaze at him, Cole ended to took pity on him and grab a few boxes, not as much as he would have wanted but he was not that strong. 

-Thank you so much ! I have like twenty boxes to get to the field it' s hell. Geez, I'm the worst... Hi, I'm Nathaniel David. Call me Nath !

He gave to Cole a beautiful smile, that he knew made him tuned red. 

-Hi, I-I'm Cole... Bach.

-Haha, don't have to turn bright red, I'm not gonna eat you ! Nice to met you Cole and thanks for the help.     

They both walked to the field talking about all the different games that would be played during the afternoon. Cole discovered that Nath was actually the captain of the soccer team, the team that Leon was hating so much for no particular reason, that he actually was a close friend of Jayden and was knowing Ash. Cole surprised himself by enjoying the company of this tall stupid boy, he was making him feel good and not as stressed as he is in presence of peoples in general, his silly jokes and his stupids anecdotes were really funny and entertaining.  

-Well, I knew Ash when Jayden came out to us. Like, what, 3 months ago ?

-He's courageous...

-He only told us but they never hided or anything, yeah I find them courageous. And for what come to him assuming himself I don't see why being bi might have to change anything. But I guess it's just that I'm not homophobic. 

-Some people take that kind of thing very bad, yeah....

-But enough talking 'bout them ! I never meet you before, how ?  

-I, hum, don't show that much... I avoid social interactions. I'm just an extra introvert. 

Nath had a little giggle to himself and looked back at his new friend. They were sitting in the corridors, it was not so hot outside for the moment but the corridors were calmer to speak. They were sitting here since maybe twenty minutes, the music was already playing on the speaker outside but the walls were muting a bit the pop music.

-They really play those songs from 2019 ?! My lord...

-Their famous, not good tho... What, hum. What would you have prefer ?

-I don't know... I'm a rock and metal fan, I'll say the basics The White Strips or KISS. What would you have prefer ?

-Ho, I don't know either... What you proposed is cool. 

-Ho come on ! I know you play in Ash's group now it means you love indie rock, right ? 

-Yeah but I enjoy anything really !"

They were laughing, filling the corridors with their conversation. The first families were starting to arrive and the stands were already stormed by the kids who were wanting to win the giant teddy bear. The two boys stood up and went outside after a quick goodbye they both went their way, Nath went with his team to practice and Cole was wandering in the aisle, among the different stands with a milkshake from June's stands. The weather was nice, it was not so hot today, the festival was announcing to be very cool for every students. He reach for his jean's pocket to grab the little piece of paper were Nath insta was wrote on, he was sure he already had saw him in his recommendation. Everyone was knowing Nath, as it seems, so it was not surprising if everyone was already having him in their friends. It was 11 a.m, the festival was ending tonight so he promised himself he'll try to speak again with this turbulent funny boy.

I divided the school festival in two small parts because it would have been way too long and i wouldn't had been able to post in a long time TwT 

I'm sorry it took more time to upload this one but I was trying my best on preparing my exam and didn't really had the time. I hope you still enjoy this little piece of work !
