Sitting On The Stairs

"Thanks. For dinner." He murmurs, quickly turning away with his plate and heading back to the main hallway of the castle.

"Wait!" You call before he has the chance to get too far away. "You never answered."

He looks at you confused. "Answered what?"

"Do you want to eat on the stairs with me?"

"Oh. Umm... sure. Why not." He responds as he heads towards you. You were so shocked he said yes, you almost forgot you were supposed to be going with him. You quickly caught up to him and sat down.

Neither of you talked much as you ate, but you noticed Draco looking at you while you were finishing up your plate. Or rather, looking at your chest. You were about to scold him, but you realized he was looking at his ring around your neck. You hadn't even noticed, but while you were eating, you were playing with it, twirling it between your fingers. You look back up at him, but he had looked away.

"Do you like it?" He asked, so quiet you were sure you had imagined it.

It surprised you, that he asked that.

"Yeah. Yeah, I do. Thank you." You replied after a second.

He responds, and you could have sworn you saw him blush. "Good. I'm glad." He stands up and holds out a hand for you.

"We better get going before Filch catches us," Draco says as he helps you to your feet.

"Yeah, we don't want that old grump to catch us." You respond. You hear him chuckle at that as you turn around to grab the empty plate you left on the stairs. "We can just leave the plates outside the kitchen. Brine knows they will be there."

You and Draco both head towards the main hall, dropping your empty plates off on the way. You come to the split, where he goes left and you go right.

"Um... bye. I'll see you in Potions." Draco says. You nod, but he was already walking away.

Before you could even think about it, you blurt out, "Draco, wait!" He stops and turns to look at you. "I had fun tonight. With you."

He gives a small smile and says, "Yeah, Y/N. Me too."
