part 3 - why him?!

"So before our class ended, the assignment I gave to you will be a pair works."

The students were ready to look at their friends aka their chosen pair when the professor suddenly scoffed. "I didn't say you could choose your pair."

Their movements halted, the sounds of whining and complaining began to echo throughout the hall. The professor only rolled his eyes, not giving any thoughts at all. "I've already assigned you to your pair. I'll post it on your group class. Take a look."

Everyone started checking their phone. Some of them were cheering, and some of them were whining in despair after looking at the pair list. Out of any other reaction, wen kexing was the only one who got speechless when his eyes fell on the screen.

"What? Who's your pair?" Xie wang asked, looking at him strangely.

Watching no answer coming from the man, xie wang took the phone from his hand. He immediately covered his mouth to hide his giggles after reading the list again.

"You're doomed, my boy." Xie wang patted on his shoulder before turning around to du pusa and qiao luohan to tell them about the situation.

Wen kexing dropped his head onto the table. He couldn't understand, out of more than 100 people in the class, why would he became a pair with zhou zishu? He had no problem being a pair with anyone in the class. But why?! Him?!

"Guys stop whining and stop being dramatic. It's not like your friendship is going to break just because you don't pair with them. It's not like I ask you to marry your pair! So, shut up and please start your discussion immediately."

Everyone closed their mouth immediately, their voice began to disappeared after listening to him. Satisfied with their reaction, he walked out of the hall.

The statements from the professor really just stabbed deep into his heart, feeling like it was intentionally directed to him.

"Professor ye is really a bitch." He hissed in annoyance, blaming the old man for making the ridiculous list.

"Wen kexing chill.." du pusa said from behind his seat. "It's just a pair work, nothing more. It's not like you're going on a blind date. Think of it as the opportunity to hurt his feeling and let him fell out of love for yo--ouch!" Du pusa cried out in pain after getting a hard pinch from qiao luohan.

"Don't be so mean. Just do your work with him and ignore anything else."

Three of them went silent all of sudden, making wen kexing furrowed his eyebrows wondering the reason for the instant lost of their voices. Only when he saw the direction of their eyes he realized that someone was standing behind him.

He turned around, only to meet with zhou zishu standing next to his table with a sweet smile on his features. Everyone was in awe, including wen kexing before he suddenly snapped from keep on staring when zhou zishu finally opened his mouth and spoke.

"Let's go to the library."

Wen kexing's eyes widened for a second. "Now..?"

"Yup. Let's discuss about the assignment and divide our parts. Don't worry, it won't take too long of your sweet time. I'll go first." After that, he smiled and walked away.

"Woah.. when you told me he was attractive, I didn't expect he would be that attractive." Qiao luo han's statement made wen kexing heaved a long sigh.

"I took it back. I would let him hurt my feeling instead if he wants to." Du pusa continued to tease him at the back.

"Shut up." Wen kexing's head fell back again on the table. He sighed again, and the questions kept repeating in his head. Why him? Why would he be pair with him out of all people?

"It's fate."

"What?" Wen kexing raised his head. He diverted his attention that was on his laptop screen towards zhou zishu.

Zhou zishu pushed his own laptop aside. He rested his head on his arm, looking straight ahead to the man in front of him. "I said, it's fate."

"I don't understand." Maybe he did understand, but he just hoped he didn't.

Zhou zishu chuckled seeing wen kexing's obvious flustered and annoyed expression. "I'm just kidding. Don't worry too much. I won't disturb you when we're doing assignment. I have quite a good discipline when it comes to finishing my work. So yeah, rest assured."

He straightened his back, pulled the laptop to his front again and started focusing on the screen.

"Zishu."

"Hmm..?" He answered to wen kexing's called without looking at him.

"How can you have a crush on me?"

"Why? I can't have a crush on you? Since I'm a man?." Zhou zishu replied with a bored intonation.

Wen kexing slowly gasped, scared that zhou zishu might have misunderstood his question. "No. I didn't mean it that way. It's not because you're a man or something like that."

"Then?"

"I meant, we don't know each other. I just knew you, and you just knew me. It's kinda impossible to fall in love to someone you just met? Or was it love at the first sight?"

Zhou zishu chuckled slowly, raising his head looking at wen kexing who was staring at him, anticipating an answer from him. "True. It was love at the first sight."

"So your feeling towards me just developed recently?"

"I never said that." Zhou zishu gave him a cheeky smile, once again looked down making the man feels a bit frustrated.

"What do you mean?"

His question was ignored as zhou zishu started writing a note on a piece of paper.

"Zishu..tell me."

"Do your work first. Give the point from tasks 1 and 2."

"Zhou zishu!"

The whole library turned their heads towards him when he accidentally raised his voice slightly. He dropped his head, feeling the embarrassment flows throughout his body, especially when he heard small giggles from the man in front of him.

"That's why I said do your work first. Did you forget that we're in the library?"

Wen kexing let out a frustrated huff. Giving up, he started writing the points he got on the paper quietly.

20 minutes later, zhou zishu stretched his body after done with his part. He glanced towards the man in front of him, chuckling when he saw wen kexing already dozed off on the pile of books.

He stared at the sleeping man for a moment before decided to wake him up. "Wen kexing." He tapped on his shoulder, getting only a shrug from the man. "Wake up." He raised his voice only slightly. "Hey. Are you fucking dead?" He started shaking his body.

Wen kexing finally woke up. He blinked his eyes several times with a confused expression on his face. Zhou zishu curled a smile, enjoying the sight in front of him.

"Why?" Wen kexing talked in mumbling way with his eyes began to close again.

"Let's go back."

Wen kexing nodded, obediently following zhou zishu from behind after he stuffed his books and laptop into his bag.

Wen kexing was searching in his bag to find his house key. But instead of reaching the house key, his fingers touched some plastic stuff that he sure never put that thing there.

He took the things out of his bag, once again speechless when he saw a heart shaped chocolate stick with a small note on the plastic.

Don't look so mad at me, you know I would still like you♡

He sighed, not knowing what to feel at the moment. He put it back into his bag and searched for the key again.
