The big marine biology speech of Marley. It's a huge lecture that all the marine biology majors are invited to, including those from other colleges. None of your friends majored in any type marine life science which sucked because now you have to sit through a 2 and 1/2 hour lecture about how some guy discovered scuba diving. Man this sucks.
You left Reiner's earlier after he made you breakfast. He was pretty uneasy after talking about the story. You felt really bad for asking about. Eren was a major dick for what he said. You had more questions. But you didn't want to send Reiner over the edge.
"Pssst." Someone says two rows in back of you.
You ignore it because it's probably not for you.
"PSSSST! Y/n!" Someone says again and then giggles quietly.
You turn around and see Eren. He is sitting next to this kid with blonde surfer boy hair and a sweater vest.
"What!" You whisper shout.
"I don't mean to reck your Friday but this lecture is boring as fuck." Eren says. "You wanna dip?"
"Ohhh fuck yes." You say.
"Come on Armin." Eren says to the blondie.
"No you go. I actually like this stuff." He says writing down notes.
You get up and leave quietly with Eren.
"I didn't know you were a marine biology major." You say to Eren.
"I'm not." He says laughing. "I came here to see you."
"Woooooow." You say. "How did you know I was a marine biology major?"
"I could tell." Eren said pointing to the whale pin on your bag.
"Oh jeez." You say. "Well then what major are you?"
"Political sciences." Eren says.
"Boringggg." You say.
"Shut up. It's because I'm Marine ROTC."
"Your kidding." You say. "Your enlisting?"
"No dumbass. I'm going officer."
"So you want to be a general or some shit?" You ask.
"Something like that."
"Why?"
"I believe we need to fight for this country to keep it free." Eren says. "My father was a corpsman (naval medical doctor) before he died."
"Ah." You say. "Is it what your mom wanted you to do?"
"No she wanted me to get an education- wait what do you know about my mother?"
Oh shit oh shit oh shit.
"Oh um nothing. I just assumed cause your dad." You lie. Pretty bad lie.
"You know don't you?" He says with his head down.
"Yeah..." You say.
"You probably think I'm such a fucking dick don't you?" Eren says while it looks like he's holding his head back to hold tears in.
"Well I don't know everything. I know you lost your mother and I'm sorry." You say.
"Well what Reiner didn't tell you was after my mom died I was an orphan. My father died in a nuclear battle when I was younger so when my mother died I was left without parents."
"Oh that's terrible." You say.
"Yeah, and after that I moved in with my buddy Armin that you met up there. And his grandpa."
"But is that an excuse to push someone to being suicidal Eren?" You call him out.
"Reiner didn't even have it HALF as bad as I did! He was just full of self pity!" Eren says.
You couldn't really argue with that. You don't know much about Reiner and by the way it sounds it seems like he grew up well.
"Ok don't shout at me." You tell him.
"I'm sorry." Eren says.
"You want to go get a beer?" You ask.
"Please." Eren says opening his car door. "Hop in."
"Also by the way." Eren says. "I'm sorry for throwing myself at you that night."
