"So how do you plan we find Dad, genius?" Madison questioned. I didn't know. I couldn't figure out how. I just didn't want Madison to know that. My mind was like a desert and the only thing moving was dust being blown in the wind.
A blank expression ran across Amber's face. I wasn't positive if she was thinking about something or if she had officially lost all hope.
Madison gave a slight laugh. "So you don't know?" She looked over in my direction and slanted her eyebrow. I remained silent. She stared at me for a while before shaking her head. Her hot red hair flowed from side to side.
"Well how about you, Amber? Any ideas?" I figured, of course Amber wouldn't have an idea. Ideas were my thing. She stayed quiet for a second.
"So no one has any ideas? Well that's just great-"
"I know what we can do..." Amber whispered. Madison and I snapped our heads in her direction.
"I know," she continued. "We have to ask Harvey."
"You're kidding right? Harvey is in jail. And there's no was I'm going to visit him. I just can't- I won't."
"And you won't have to," I interrupted. "Because, I'm going."
"No you're not," Amber snapped. "He'll recognize you."
"What difference does it make? He won't be able to hurt me. Besides. He should know how serious I am about my father." I shook at the thought of meeting face to face with him again.
"Well who do you suggest we send?"
Amber let out a loud, annoyed sigh. "Me! I'll go!" Madison and I looked at Amber in confusion. Amber. Going into a prison. She was too sensitive. She would cry because of how dirty it was.
"You're kidding right?" Madison chuckled.
Amber shook her head. "I'm serious. I can dress up and get him to believe I'm an attorney or something on a missing persons case. Then I'll tell him that he could possibly face jail time for up to another 20 years for abduction. And if he doesn't tell me, I'll have Madison tell the police that he and some of his friends kidnapped our father."
Madison and I sat there in awe as we carefully listened to Amber's plan. It was so amazing that it seemed like I came up with it.
"Wow...that plan has to work," I stuttered.
"I don't see how it can't," Madison smiled. I missed her bright, beautiful smile some days. It was a smile that made everyone happy. Just as I opened my mouth to say something, my phone rang. It was Ryan. I didn't want him to worry, so I put up my finger gesturing for them to wait a second.
"Hey, Babe,"I answered as I scooted out of the booth. I heard Madison whisper something followed by more whispers and giggles.
"Taylor? Are you okay? You left school so suddenly. What's going on?" I turned and looked back at Madison and Amber. I wasn't sure whether or not to tell him exactly what was happening.
"I'm uh...meeting with someone." There was a slight silence on both ends of the phone.
"Who?! Is it that guy from the hotel? I'll kill him! I'll come pick you up-"
"Babe," I laughed. "It's okay. It's not him." I heard him let out a sigh of relief.
"Alright. Good. So...am I still coming over tonight to help you with you investigate," he chuckled.
"Umm...well I don't know if tonight is good. Maybe tomorrow." I heard a loud outburst of laughter come from the booth. I turned around as Madison started shaking her head in excitement. She mouthed the words "let him come." Either that or something about gum. I shook my head no as I pointed at her and Amber. She responded by shaking her head no then pointing at my phone and saying yes.
