Chess

We started by lining up our pawns in the zig zag line arrangement.

Annnnddd then all hell broke loose as Tails doll showed his true prowess in this game by using all of his pieces to just cream me. Apparently he knew exactly what he was doing.

I literally only won because I got a lucky shot with my knight.

“NO! I DEMAND A REMATCH!” Tails Doll shrieked.

I felt my heart shrink.

Fleetway just snorted. "No rematch. You lost dolly."

Tails doll was fuming. 

I smiled at Fleetway briefly before turning to Tails doll. 

"Well? Pay up." I said while grinning at Tails doll and reaching out my hand for a shake.

Tails doll sighed and then he shook my hand.

I smirked.

Fleetway grinned.

Tails doll growled and then he left with his tails down.

I released the ultimate sigh of relief before I turned to Fleetway.

"Thanks Fleet." I told him with a nod of respect.

"No problem. You're the chosen." Fleetway smiled.

I snorted and laughed. "Fleets! I'm not the chosen!"

Fleetway chuckled. "You are. You just don't want to accept it."

I sighed. 

Fleetway patted me on the back before walking into his house.

"Sonic! Good job!" Shadow EXE shouted.

"Yeah. No one has ever beat Tails doll at chess before." Said the black eyed Amy.

Evil Cream nodded and her Dark Chao jumped onto her shoulder.

"It was just luck. He was creaming me." I said as everyone started to surround me again.

"Hey! Idiots! Move out of the way!" Shouted demon Knuckles.

I raised an eyebrow and then demon Knuckles paused.

"Sonic.. I.. Well.. Our world needs your help! The Nightmare Emerald is destabilizing! Someone is messing with it and we need your assistance." Demon Knuckles pleaded as he suddenly dropped onto his knees.

I stared for a long moment and then I sighed.

"Your energy. It feels tainted. Does it always feel like that?" I asked demon Knuckles.

"No! That's the problem! It’s supposed to feel like pure evil! Not this tainted vile stuff." Demon Knuckles explained.

I nodded. 

"Take me to the nightmare emerald. Let me see it. I'll do what I can to help." I told demon Knuckles while everyone looked at each other nervously. 

Demon Knuckles nodded and grabbed my hand. 

Before I knew it we were at a island filled with skeletons and bloody trees and oh my god it was horrifying.

Which was when I saw the emerald it was red with a black edge at the bottom.

Knuckles pointed at the edge. "See? That's not supposed to be there! Our emerald is supposed to be pure red!" The demonic echidna cried.

I frowned and then I touched the emeralds top.

I was shocked by the feeling of fear that suddenly coursed through me.

It was crying for help.

I then touched the bottom and the malicious intent that filled me was terrifying. 

But I did recognize the energy signature.

This was dark energy. Not Gaia luckily but just pure darkness and it didn't even feel natural. 

Someone was messing with the EXEs.
