Portal

I was on a patrol when a dark portal appeared in front of me. I released a surprised shout and tried to stop but.. I wasn’t able to stop in time and I fell through.

I yelped as I fell into a river and the taste of blood entered my mouth and I screamed.

“Help! Help!” I hollered while trying to swim.

I was grabbed by the scruff of my neck and pulled to shore and when I looked up I saw a silver werehog staring down at me with golden eyes.

“Hey. You okay?” the Werehog asked.

I shuddered for a moment and then a silver cat that looked like Blaze but with black eyes with red pupils and blood seeping from the lower lids appeared and I shuddered again.

What kind of twisted world had I appeared in?

“Think he’s in shock?” The cat asked.

“Maybe?” The werehog answered.

I just hung there in silence. Staring at them both.

“I wonder how he got here.” The cat mused.

I finally spoke up. “I got here through a portal.”

Both Werehog and Cat looked at each other and then the Werehog spoke up.

“Shit! The Nightmare Emerald must be acting up!” The Werehog yelped.

“The nightmare emerald?” I asked curiously.

They both looked at each other and then the cat sighed.

“It’s our version of the Master emerald. We also have the seven dream emeralds.” The cat explained.

I nodded in understanding and then the werehog started walking.

“Wait. Where are we going?” I asked.

“To my cabin.” The werehog answered.

The Cat nodded. “It’s a nice place. Outside of the town. You’ll be safe there.”

“Safe?” I questioned.

“Our locals aren’t very mortal friendly.” Werehog chuckled.

“And you guys are?” I said with a raised eyebrow.

“Well.. I mean.. We won’t harm you.” The Cat said awkwardly.

I narrowed my eyes in suspicion.

Werehog sighed and then I saw a cozy looking cabin in front of me.

I watched as the werehog opened the door and dropped me off on the couch.

Both cat and werehog stared at me for a moment and so I decided to ask a question.

“So… What are your names?” I asked them curiously.

The werehog grinned first and answered. “Silver. Silver the Werehog.”

“Blaze EXE. It’s nice to meet you.” The cat answered.

I nodded and then something occurred to me. “EXE?”

“Yeah. It means we are entities. Not real animals.” Blaze EXE explained.

I stared in shock but then I shrugged.

“Anything else I should know?” I asked.

“Stay away from the town unless you want to be eaten.” Silver gruffed.

Blaze EXE nodded.
I frowned as I wondered what the town was like.

It was probably horrifying.

I sighed when something occurred to me.

“When do I go home?” I asked out loud.

Blaze and Silver both flinched and I had a bad feeling.

“I can’t go home can I?” I asked, my voice laced with fear.

Silver the Werehog sighed and then Blaze EXE spoke.

“Well.. You could but.. The other EXE’s live off of the blood of the innocent. Me and Silver only hunt the evil.” Blaze EXE explained.

Silver the Werehog nodded.

I shuddered. No wonder they didn’t want me to go into town.

“So.. I just have to stay here then? Forever?” I asked.

Blaze EXE smiled at me and Silver the Werehog shook his head.

“We’ll talk to Shadow EXE. He is the mayor of the town and the nicest one there.” Silver the Werehog explained.

Blaze EXE frowned. “Really? He might be nice but he’s still a predator and he doesn’t really like outsiders. Remember Maria?”

Silver the Werehog shrugged. “He still let her stay though. Same with Mephiles.”

Blaze EXE sighed. “Fine.. We’ll do that in an hour.”

I nodded and then I went and sat down. Something told me that this place was going to both give me nightmares and I probably would never be able to leave and that scared me.

I just hoped that I was wrong.
