I looked a little ways to my right and saw Purple Eyes and the Green Cloaks.
I didn't know how, but I was there. Maybe there was a deity up there somewhere, but I would have to think about that later. Purple Eyes and the Green Cloaks were heading towards my location fast, and if I didn't want Purple Eyes to die, I had to act quickly.
I jumped up and ran towards a bush where I could hide and Purple Eyes would run near. As soon as he passed by I yanked his arm and dragged him with me.
"Who are you?" He snarled.
"I'm someone trying to save you, so please keep running!" I yelled and continued to drag him along. "I don't want to die, and I don't want you dying either."
I felt his eyes burn into the back of my neck. Clearly, he didn't trust me. I couldn't blame him; I didn't really trust myself. Besides, I had just randomly appeared in a dangerous situation and dragged him someplace. I don't exactly call that trustworthy.
"Keep running. I'll explain everything once we escape Green Cloaks." I informed him.
"Okay." He replied indifferently.
My interference hadn't thrown the Green Cloaks off our trail. All I had done was change the direction of the chase. Now I was also a target of the Green Cloaks. What a wonderful rescue I had pulled off. It had seemed like a great plan until I ended up in the crossfire. Though, it all seemed worth it if I ended up saving Purple Eyes.
As we were running, I discovered what injured Purple Eyes. The Green Cloaks were throwing large, sharp, invisible projectiles at us as we ran. Since we couldn't see them coming, we couldn't dodge. Several were shot at me, yet I was never hit.
It was the strangest thing. Everytime they aimed for me, they either missed, or deflected off of an invisible shield. As strange as it was, I was thankful. Without whatever it was, I would have died a long time ago.
I don't know how long we ran, but it seemed endless. Almost like a never ending time loop. Of course, none of us were able to keep running endlessly. Everyone except for the Green Cloaks, they were able to run endlessly. However, Purple Eyes and I were tiring, and Purple Eyes's injury still bled.
I needed to get him to a hospital as soon as possible before he died of blood loss. As I was entangled in my thoughts in an attempt to figure out how to escape, Purple Eyes lost his balance and fell.
"Shit!" I muttered.
I bent over and picked him up and put most of his weight on my shoulder. Jeez, he was heavy and he was struggling to carry himself now. We had been reduced to a walk and the Green Cloaks caught up in no time.
"Hand him over." One of the Green Cloaks demanded.
"No way. I didn't work this hard only to hand him over." I refused.
"Well then, I guess you don't mind meeting the Mother!" Another one threatened.
The Mother? Like as in, a goddess? Were they religious fanatics? Ugh, why was this situation so complicated?
"Uh, boys... I'm going to have to pass on meeting the Mother or whoever. Now if you don't mind, I'll just get going now, with Mr. Purple Eyes. See ya!"
I tried to sprint away with Purple Eyes, and failed spectacularly. I face planted and dropped Purple Eyes who had passed out not long ago."Capture them both. Keep the stranger alive, he might know something." The commanding Green Cloak ordered.
I felt my body rise from the ground, yet I couldn't see what was lifting me up. I could figure that out later, right now I had to escape with Purple Eyes. I doubted he would live long with the Green Cloaks.
