The following weeks' training was brutal, and I gained many cuts and bruises. From sun up to sun down we trained, and before I knew it, I was able to handle a sword with ease. Now I was nowhere near the level of someone like the Commander, but I was proficient enough to join training with the main squad of the Auksas.
Casimir threw a private party for the two of us when I was formally admitted into the Auksas. I thought that being a knight was more than enough work, but apparently, as I'd become accustomed to this world, I had more duties in store for me.
Princes, I learned, didn't just sit on thrones, party, and look pretty. They had to deal with mountains of paperwork everyday, and I had even more since Rowan-the king- wasn't here. After strenuous workouts with the knights, I went to my office-I'd recently been given one- and worked on signing papers and studying the affairs of the kingdom.
"Prince Yami?" A familiar voice called. "May I enter?"
"Enter." I replied.
Noelle entered, bearing a face of absolute seriousness.
"What happened?" I asked.
"The Commander has summoned all the members of Auksas for a meeting. I don't know what it entails, but I am sure that it is something of the utmost importance, seeing as he asked me to get you from your study." Noelle answered.
"Wonderful. Let's go."
By the time we arrived, the rest of the squad had already arrived, and been waiting patiently. Noelle and I hurried to the last remaining chairs, the squeaking of the chair joints echoing around the room.
The air was tense, so I knew something had gone wrong. What exactly had gone wrong, I couldn't guess. Since the kingdom had so many things that could go wrong, I wasn't sure which one it was.
"Comrades, I gathered you here for one thing only; to discuss the upcoming mission. All knight squads will be mobilized, but our mission is the most important. We will need all hands on deck for this mission, which includes our newest members." The Commander began, "We will be going to Earth to be prepared for the next large invasion that our enemies have planned. Thanks to our dear youngest Prince, we have an idea of when the next invasion will occur, but we don't know the exact location. That's why I'm splitting our squad into pairs, and stationing them around the country with the most chance of being inavded next. I'll send out group arrangements within the next two days. In the meantime, get ready to leave. Everyone except for Yami and Noelle are dismissed."
"Sir, what do you need from us?" Noelle questioned.
"I'll be giving you two a special assignment during this mission. I'll be sending both of you to Yami's hometown, per special request of the Crown Prince. Your orders for this mission are to blend into a normal life, have fun, and meet new people, Noelle. If the time comes, I want you to fight the GC's monsters, but otherwise, I want you to live a normal life.
"As for Yami, I want you to hang out with your old friends, and live the life you've lived for the past eighteen years. Of course, I want you to fight the GC if need be, but otherwise, your orders are to live normally." Commander explained.
"Really?" I piped up. "You don't need us to do anything else during the mission??
"Nope." Someone I knew quite well interrupted. "As per my orders, I want you and Miss Noelle to live normally on Earth until further notice. If the need arises you may fight, but I don't want to keep Yami from his life on Earth anymore."
"Cas?" I asked, "Is that really okay for me to be doing right now?""You were going to be leaving by the end of the summer anyway, I just decided to let you leave a couple of months early. Oh, and I have something to say to Miss Noelle."
Casimir turned to Noelle with a serious look on his face. "While this may not be known to the public, I have appointed you as Yami's personal guard. Please, take care of my younger brother and keep him safe."
"As you wish, Crown Prince." Noelle agreed and bowed.
