chapter one:
to letting loose
"Come on, Lilah, you need to go out," the dark-haired woman groans, falling down onto Delilah's bed.
"I have orders to finish," Delilah excuses. Natalia sits up on the bed, sending her friend a look. "What? It's my job, Talia."
"Your job can wait until tomorrow," she hums, grabbing her hands and pulling her towards the bathroom. "We haven't gone out in so long."
"There's a reason for that," Delilah huffs, leaning against the bathroom counter. Natalia crosses her arms and stares at Delilah through the mirror. She pokes her bottom lip out. Her dark brown eyes hold ounces of pleading.
"Just one night?" She begs.
"Fine," Delilah gives in, making pure joy spread across Natalia's face. She claps lightly before pulling Delilah back into her room. Delilah sits on the bed, watching as Natalia sifts through her closet. Natalia finds a maroon mini-dress and tosses it onto the bed.
"There! That one's perfect!" She assures, starting to look for something for herself. Smiling, Delilah shakes her head before grabbing the dress and slipping into the bathroom. Once she has the dress on, she looks in the mirror. There's a cutout just above her stomach and the straps cross in the front. The dress hugs her body well. Delilah adds some necklaces and rings to finish off the look. Natalia joins her in the bathroom as they start doing their makeup. Talia goes for a dark smoky eye to match the black dress, while Delilah goes for nude lips and light eye makeup. "Damn we look good."
"That we do," Delilah laughs, resting her head on Natalia's shoulder.
"Maybe you can find someone to help you relax tonight," she teases, poking Delilah's side. Playfully, she hits her hand away. Slipping on some heels, the duo grabs their bags before leaving the apartment. The building is quiet as they exit. Natalia hails a cab and they climb in.
When they arrive, the bass is already booming inside. Talia grins eagerly before grabbing her friend's hand and pulling her to the doors. The bouncer checks the girl's IDs, and sends Talia a wink, before letting them pass.
"You have to teach me your ways," Delilah teases over the music. Natalia shrugs, flicking her dark hair off of her shoulder.
"You have it, Lilah, you just don't lean into it," she grins. Delilah waves her off as they reach the bar. The bartender walks up to them, tossing his towel over his shoulder.
"What can I get you, ladies?" He greets. Delilah's brown eyes scan over the menu.
"I'll have a tequila sunrise," Natalia orders with a sly grin. The bartender's dark eyes fall onto the brunette next to her.
"Make that two," Delilah decides. The bartender can't seem to keep his eyes off of her.
"And can you add two vodka-lime shots?" Natalia requests. The bartender nods before walking off. Delilah tosses a look at her friend. "You're letting loose tonight, Lilah."
"As long as you don't leave me," she laughs.
"Are you sure you won't be leaving me? Did you see how the bartender was looking at you?" She jokes. A few moments later, he comes back with the drinks in his hand. He slips a napkin under each but Delilah's has something scribbled onto it. When he walks away, heat rushes to Delilah's cheeks. "See, what did I just say!"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Delilah waves, tucking the napkin into her clutch. The two pick up the shots before turning to each other.
"To letting go," Talia grins, raising the glass.
