chapter ten:
bitter
Luke's back is pressed against the wall of her apartment. Her hands dance around the belt on his waist. His eyes are focused on her and her only. His mind doesn't dare shift from the woman in front of him.
"Delilah," he hums.
"Did it work?" She questions, looking up at him. Her dark eyes sparkle in the lights.
"Did what work?" He mumbles, trying to clear his head of the thoughts racing through it.
"Sleeping with someone else to get me out of your head." Her words hit, making Luke's lips purse. Delilah takes a step closer, putting them impossibly close.
"You know the answer to that," Luke hears himself respond.
"I do," she grins, "Kinda wanted to hear you admit it though."
"Admit what?" He continues his teasing. He places his finger under her chin, guiding her lips to his. He stops just before their lips fully connect. Her dark eyes bore into his.
"Did I leave a taste in your mouth, Luke?" With each word her lips brush his. He's reveling in this new side of her. It's not jealousy in her tone. It's cockiness. Her hands dance up his stomach and chest where she unbuttons his shirt a bit.
"Maybe," he hums, leaning closer to her. She pulls back a bit, not letting him kiss her yet. She wants to get under his skin a bit.
"Did you fuck her on the counter?" Delilah's voice is low as she asks the question. Luke shakes his head. Delilah smiles, knowing he's like putty in her hands. It's a mischievous grin that Luke could get addicted to. "I'm glad I'm the only one who got that treatment then."
"You wanna know something, sunshine?" Luke hums, letting his lips graze her neck. She hums, tangling her fingers in his curls. He places a single kiss on the skin below her ear before speaking. "I'm really glad I can't get you out of my head."
"Good," she whispers. "Let's keep it that way, pretty boy."
When Luke wakes, his skin is covered in a light layer of sweat and his sweatpants are tight. He sits up, taking a deep breath. He glances over at the girl beside him, careful not to wake her as he stands.
The cold shower calms his nerves and gives him a moment to think. When he gets out, the girl is sitting up in his bed.
"Morning," he greets.
"Morning," she greets. He changes into another pair of sweatpants as she puts her underwear on. He hands her an old shirt. She stares down at the fabric with a certain look. Luke scoffs lightly at her rejection of the shirt before putting it back in the drawer.
"What happened to your back?" She asks blankly. Luke's jaw tightens at her question. Luke isn't insecure but hates the questions that come from the marks on his back.
"An accident," Luke mumbles, tossing on a t-shirt. The girl doesn't ask any more questions. She slips on the dress she had on last night and follows Luke into the kitchen. She sits at the island.
"Who was that girl you were talking to last night?" The girl inquires. Luke's brows furrow and he glances up at her.
"Doesn't matter," he brushes off, not wanting to discuss Delilah with a random girl who he never cared to learn the name of.
"She seemed like a bitch," the girl mumbles. Her words set something off in Luke. He turns his back to her, grabbing water out of the fridge. Delilah may have been harsh but she's far from a bitch. Luke knows he deserved her anger.
