TW BIPOLAR DISORDER

"shit, shit, shit. fucking shit michael!" sarah and mike ran across the school hallways, looking for will. "calm down. calm down, he's there."

mike ran out, towards the field. "the fuck is he looking at?" sarah asked while running. "will! will, can you hear me? will!" mike shook will's shoulders.

"mike, what do we do? what do we do?" sarah panicked.

she saw joyce and the others run towards them. "what happened?" joyce asked. "i don't know, joyce, i'm sorry. we found him like this, i don't know what to do." sarah cried as tears got out of her eyes.

"sarah, come here, it's okay. it's okay." lucas grabbed her arm and hugged her, her face buried in lucas's neck, she was too scared to look at will.

she zoned out, lucas's hand stroking her hair, her breathing getting heavier and heavier, and she didn't even notice will waking up.

her head was spinning, and she still found it hard to breathe. "i'm sorry, i'm sorry lucas, i don't feel so good." she gripped onto lucas's shoulders tightly.

"sarah, breathe. calm down, will is okay. he's okay." he hugged her and shouted mike's name, asking him to help him taking sarah home.

the last thing sarah remembered was her vision becoming dizzy, and her falling onto lucas's shoulders.

sarah heard talking, and that's when she woke up. she opened her eyes and found two familiar concerned faces looking down at her.

"lucas?" he held her hand. "i'm here. are you alright? can you stand?" he said as he helped her getting up.

"awh, fuck." she said when her head started spinning again. "mike, where are my medicines?" she looked at mike.

mike got up and came back in ten seconds. he handed sarah her pills. "here, i'll get water."

"medicines? what?" lucas looked confused. "what are them for, sarah?" he crouched next to her, while mike arrived with a glass of water.

sarah shrugged, then looked at mike. then she looked again at lucas. "please, don't tell anyone. i don't want people to find out, okay? only mike knows."

"yeah, don't worry. what is it?" lucas asked concerned. "i suffer from a bipolar disorder, lucas. that means i can't control how i feel, i can't control my emotions, i can't control shit about myself! and that explains why most of times i don't have any reason to be sad, or angry. and then right after i'm super happy. and this mostly happens when this traumatic shit happens too and i can't control it, lucas, i can't!" sarah rambled but stopped when lucas hugged her.

she sobbed in lucas's arms and then mike joined the hug. sarah felt safe, for once in her life.

"stop being a baby and do it already!"

"this is so disgusting. is this really necessary?"

"what the hell is going on?" dustin arrived and sarah ran towards him, pulling him in a hug. "dusty!! hi!" she laughed and pulled back. "you okay?" dustin asked sarah.

lucas and mike exchanged a worried look. "yeah, dusty. i'm fine!" sarah smiled.

"where is will?" dustin backed from sarah. "he'll be here." mike assured them.

"alright guys, i'm gonna head to history. you coming, mayfield?" sarah grabbed her backpack and looked at max. "yeah, yeah coming. see you later, guys." max turned to look at the others.

"later" mike answered as they kept looking for dart.

"max?" sarah and max were walking in the school hallways and sarah tried to start a conversation. "yeah?"

sarah hesitated for a second and then continued. "i know that what you saw yesterday seems crazy. trust me, i know. but i want to explain everything, since now you're basically part of it, so..."

"part of it? is this some kind of satanic cult, dion?" max stopped right before the history class door. sarah chuckled. "oh, mayfield, i wish it was."

the bell rang. "mayfield, want to skip maths later?"

"i would love to, dion"

sarah and max got out of history class and ran to the exit in order to go to the park. sarah held max's hand as they ran hawkins roads.

her laugh caught max's ears and her hair moving because of the wind were the only thing the redhead could see.

"alright, mayfield." they sat on the grass and grabbed some candies from max's backpack. "ready to hear a story?"

"then eleven killed the demogorgon, but it dragged el along with him. she saved us. and i never got to thank her for that." sarah said as a single tear was streaming down her face.

max looked at her concerned. "woah, dion, when i said i wanted to be part of the party i didn't mean i wanted to be part of your strange d&d cult." sarah looked confused "what?"

"i mean, i get it, you want me to keep up with your game so i can play with you all, that's nice. but i can't play and i really don't care about it." max slowly got up.

"game? this is not a joke, shithead. it really happened." sarah wiped the tear away and got up to face max.

max shrugged "you're cool, dion, really. but i don't believe you. yes, what happened to will yesterday is weird, but not as weird as this."

she grabbed her skate "see you later, dion."

"and eleven?"

max stopped. she turned to look at sarah. "what about her?"

"you don't believe me, do you? but you heard mike, in the gym. eleven is real. i'm telling the truth, i swear. i know it's hard to believe something you find weird, i swear. i myself got trust issues, alright? but you gotta believe me, max."

max grabbed her hand. "i want proof, dion. see it to believe it. got it?"

"you're right. right. i tried, mayfield, y' know?" she started yelling. "i told you all this stuff, so that you could've keep up with all the party. and you don't believe me. nobody ever believes me, right? fuck. this. shit." and with that, sarah dion got back to school.

"hey, sarah, where is max?" lucas asked as sarah approached the group. lucas and dustin sat by the stairs, while mike was on the phone trying to reach out for will.

sarah sat next to lucas. "don't know. don't care."

"woah, what happened?" he asked concerned. "i told her. alright? i told her everything, so that she could've keep up with us. and guess what? she didn't believe me! of course she didn't." she rambled.

and lucas didn't care about the fact that sarah had just exposed them to a stranger, no. he hugged her protectively as she sobbed in his arms.

now that he knew about sarah's bipolar disorder, he felt even more protective over the girl. he didn't want her to feel guilty about something she did to help.

"sarah, hey, don't worry about it. she doesn't believe you? her loss. you just wanted to help, right?" sarah nodded in his chest. "so screw it! why do you care so much about what she thinks by the way?"

and with that sentence, sarah knew. knew that she fell in love with the fucking redhead.
