"Claws in."

Marinette barely had time to register what he was doing before she saw the flash of green light. She shoved her face into her hands before she could see anything, keeping her eyes firmly shut.

"What are you doing?!" Marinette was fuming. Had he not heard a word she'd just said?

"You want my trust, I'm giving it to you." Chat Noir's voice stated simply from above her.

"I just told you why I can't know your identity! What about what I said told you to do the opposite?!"

"But how is any of this going to work if we don't trust each other? Please, My Lady?" The sound of his voice was slightly tempting, but she was having none of it. They had just expressed how much they trusted one another, why did he need to go and try revealing his identity?

"Chat, I wouldn't have an issue with knowing each other's identities if it was safe. But it's not safe so you just need to listen to me for once!"

"Marinette. Take your hands from your face. Please?" She could hear the desperation in his tone. It was as if her words were going in through one ear and out the other!

"I said no." Marinette stood her ground, stubborn as ever.

"You're the guardian, so shouldn't it make sense for you to know anyways? Don't you want to know? I know you're at least a little curious."

...He kind of had had a point there. She hated the truth to his words, trying for once to not let pride or ignorance cloud her judgement when she was well aware that she was being stubborn. Besides, why not keep him on his toes? With all the mischief he'd gotten himself into tonight, he deserved it. Regardless of what he said or thought, however, there was still the issue of Chat Blanc.

"It- it doesn't matter what I think or feel, there are things you don't understand; real and dangerous reasons for why we can't reveal ourselves! I'm not going to repeat that again, I've told you so many times." She could feel his eyes boring into her even without seeing them.

"You choose to repeat yourself instead of just telling me the truth. How can you be so sure of your stance? Maybe it's all in your head. Have you considered it may not be as bad or dangerous as you think it would be?"

"As I know it would be," she corrected. "And yes, I have considered that, because as a hero of Paris, it's my responsibility to think of all of the possibilities and dangers! Not to try and think of ways around them to live out a fantasy that would just end up in a horrifying, devastating way no matter what!"

She turned away from him and uncovered her eyes, crossing her arms and staring out into the moonlit sky. It had grown darker quickly since the days were getting shorter.

She heard him sigh in defeat from where he stood behind her. "Will you please at least tell me what's been bothering you so badly that you haven't spoken to me about it? I trust you, but it'd be nice to have an idea of what's going on for a change. I just feel like we haven't been understanding each other as well as we normally do lately, especially since that whole ordeal with your Chat Blanc nightmare."

Marinette pinched the bridge of her nose, thinking it over. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for him to know—would it? Maybe it could even prevent a Chat Blanc 2.0? Well, technically it'd be Chat Blanc 1.0, since strictly speaking, it hadn't happened.
