Nightmares: Part Five

-In Collaboration With Irwined-

"Marinette, you wouldn't...by some crazy coincidence, happen to be one of my best friends and the love of my life, would you?"

Marinette's heart felt as if it were skipping every other beat as she stood, rooted to the spot. Her wide eyes stared back into the emerald gaze of Chat Noir's and she felt her chest constrict.

"E-excuse me?"

Real smooth, Marinette. She inwardly cringed at her stupidity as she searched for something, anything to say to avoid having this conversation, to make him forget all about his suspicions.

Chat Noir gave a light chuckle, using a clawed hand to tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "I'm quite positive you heard me, My Lady."

Marinette blinked, processing what she had just heard. "Hey! W-wait a minute, you have no idea what you're talking about, Chat Noir." She glared at him and pushed his hand away, feeling her face heat up, "You don't get to just tell me I'm something I'm not! Especially not without speaking with me first."

"But I am speaking with you, and I'm letting you know you don't have to hide from me anymore, your secret's safe with me, cat's honor!" Chat Noir laid one hand over his heart and raised the other, crossing his fingers as he wore a wide grin on his face.

"I'm not Ladybug," Marinette continued to stubbornly deny with a swift shake of her head.

He laughed, "Oh, really? Because your face looks about as red as your mask right now."

Marinette growled, "That's it! Out with you, I've had enough of your nonsense for one day. I'm gonna go...er, work on some designs, go fight the akuma! I'm sure Ladybug is waiting for you!" She pushed him away towards her balcony railing.

He simply laughed at her antics, "Whatever you say, Buginette, I'll be waiting!"

He took off from her balcony before she could give him an earful for his foolishness, using his staff to go from rooftop to rooftop.

Ladybug swung towards the scene, arriving where Chat Noir had Sandboy on his toes, hopping around and poking fun. She was able to breathe a sigh of relief, for she hadn't seen any sign of Chat Blanc on her way over or when she had landed.

Her guard was immediately put back up, however when Chat Noir landed in front of her, standing so that they were face to face.

"Hello, Princess, how kind of you to join me." He bent over to kiss her hand and winked at her before rising back to his full height.

Ladybug huffed and crossed her arms, a stern look on her face once again. "I have no idea what you're going on about. Let's just finish up with this akuma, shall we?"

Chat Noir grinned at her, "Fine by me, Bugaboo."

The heroes made quick work of defeating Sandboy once they worked together. There were miraculously no more casualties by the time Ladybug cast her lucky charm into the air, reversing the damage and taking all nightmares with it.
