Before
╔═══*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*═══╗"Give it back!"
A group of guys were crowding me and one of them was holding my backpack over their head where I couldn't reach it.
'Let's see what's in here, shall we?" Two other guys held me back while he unzipped my bag.
"Notebooks... Pencils," he says as he drops them on the floor. I was starting to get pissed off."Where is my money, Dylan?"
I stayed quiet because if I spoke, I would say something that would get myself beat. He lets out a chuckle and drops the bag, walking over to me. "See, the problem here is that you don't listen. You owe me kid, and If you don't have my money by the end of this week-"
"Is everything alright?" says a teacher walking over to us. They immediately let go of me and ran off. It was just me and Edward now. And then It began sprinkling outside. I gathered all of my things and put them back in my bag. His facial expressions changed, along with his voice.
"Yes mam'. We were just playing around" He pats my shoulder and smiles. "Okay. Well get to class, especially you Edward, you've had enough tardies. You still want your football scholarship, don't you?"
"Yes mam'.""Okay then. Bell rings in 2 minutes. The lady stood there waiting for him to walk away.l. "You're dead," he whispered into my ear before he left.
I was finally able to catch my breath. Even though they have been messing with me since middle school, I still get nervous when I'm around them. My dad tells me that I need to grow up and teach them a lesson, but I always chicken out.
One time, they poured milk on me in the cafeteria in front of almost the whole grade. Everyone laughed at me. I went through the rest of the day smelling spoiled.
I ran to math class and made it before the last bell rang. As I stepped foot in the classroom, everyone glanced up from their phones,Notebooks, books, and looked at me.
I can tell they are judging me from the look on their faces. Out of breath, I sit next to my best friend, Imani. She wore black flare jeans with an oversized t-shirt and her long curly hair is up in a ponytail.
"Where were you? I told you to get here early so I can help you for the test." I rest my arms on the cold, hardwood desk. "I'm sorry. I overslept, you know. Missed the bus. But it's fine."
Imani pushes her glasses up. "Sure you do."
"Alright class. Good morning. I hope you all had your rest because we are going to be taking the unit 6 test today" The whole class sighs. Mr. Charleston grabs a stack of packets from his desk and hands them out.
"Take one and pass it down." Do I really have it covered? No. I don't understand it much. More like at all. But if I fail this exam, my grade will drop and I'm pretty sure i'll be failing. I've never been the smartest in class. Imani and I have 4 classes together and I hate that I need her help all of the time.
╔══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══╗Its been like this since we were in the second grade. I had just transferred schools because we moved. Me and my little sister who was only 4 at the time had each other, and that was it. I remember first walking into the classroom in the middle of the year, and having no friends.
I begged my mom for her to stay with me. The room was filled with kids so I sat by this girl who wore a pink butterfly shirt and a blue skirt. "Hi." she said.
Standing there with sweaty palms, I waved because I was afraid to speak. "Don't worry, I don't bite. What's your name?"
"Dy-Dylan"Oh, that's a cool name. I'm Imani." She hands me a piece of paper with a pencil.
"Here, we are just tracing the letters and then writing them in cursive." I picked up the pencil and began writing. That day forward, we sat with each other during lunch, and hung out during recess. Once I got to know her better, I became more comfortable around her. We started having sleepovers and "playdates." My parents were so happy that I found a friend who I can talk to about everything. It made me feel less alone.
Once we got the package, everyone started. Imani grabs her pencil from her pencil pocket and writes her name on the paper. I tap on her desk.
"Okay, I don't know how to do this." Imani laughs and says "Just copy off of mine, but this is the last time I'll give you the answers. You need to start paying attention and studying."
"Fine." She slides her paper closer to me so I can see what she circles. And when ours world's collided, everything seemed to be better then they were before.
