In the middle of a city on a dark, stormy night covered by dark purple clouds, a young Queen Aleena was fleeing from a horde of crystalline demons, carrying a basket with three Hedgehog children inside. She held three pendants, each in the shape of instruments with a string attached to them like a necklace, in one of the hands carrying the basket.
"Escape is futile, Queen. Surrender your pendants, and you will be spared from a horrible fate. Failure to surrender to the Dark One will result in a gruesome demise." One of the crystalized demons threatened.
The Queen obviously didn't comply with the demands they were giving to her, so she continued to flee in hopes that she'll find somewhere safe to hide. Unfortunately, a dark, hedgehog-shaped figure floated in her way, causing her to stumble onto the pavement beneath her feet, the basket falling safely onto her chest.
"Leaving the party so soon? You didn't even stay for the... Festivities." The figure said in a deep, seductive voice.
The figure stepped out from the shadows to reveal his true self; Mephiles, the sorcerer of Eternal Night, stood in front of the fallen Queen. His eyes, bright green, serpent-like irises and red sclera, and his fully crystalline appearance intimidated Aleena, but she kept a brave face, showing no fear towards her demonic predator.
"I am not interested in your 'festivities'. They're just not fun enough for me." She refused.
The Sorcerer of Eternal Night then gave Aleena a death stare, starting to act serious. He had his arms behind his back, and stared down the Queen who was still on the ground with the basket on her chest. Mephiles walks around Aleena, and asks her a question.
"What hope do you have to foil my plans, Aleena? If you actually think you can send your offspring to a safe place, and that they'll be successful in stopping me, then you hit your head harder than I once realized. Now, hand over those pendants, or I WILL be forced to kill your children one by one until you give them to me." The Dark Sorcerer explained, holding his hand held out in front of Aleena. "Not complying isn't an option for you. Choose your next move carefully, or there WILL be serious repercussions. Don't force my hand!"
Aleena scoffed at this. She spat in Mephiles' general direction, and she could tell that he was at his breaking point. She took this action to use her Master Pendant to fire a beam at the fake hedgehog, and spins around, hitting all of the minions of Mephiles. This had given her enough time to continue running from her pursuers. She manages to take her daughter, Sonia, to a mansion owned by Mr. LaTour, a friend of hers, and popular fashion designer.
She continued to run, hoping to reach Knothole Village to deliver one of her sons there, only to be greeted by a few Black Arms soldiers.
"You are really starting to get on my nerves, Aleena. This is no longer a game. I will get those pendants one way or another, even if that means getting my hands dirty! I will NOT be denied restoring all the power for the leader of the Black Arms!" The Dark Sorcerer demanded, his tone getting more infuriated.
Aleena stared at him, actually starting to quake out of fear. She actually thought this was the end when a glowing yellow blade suddenly slashed a Black Arms soldiers in half straight down the middle, green blood spilling onto the ground. From behind the dead beast was a hedgehog who looked identical to Mephiles standing there, only with red stripes and eyes instead of grey stripes and green eyes, his Chaos Blade coming out from his wrist.
"Silhou the Hedgehog! Why am I not surprised?!" Mephiles exclaimed, his angered expression getting more severe.
"Your Majesty, you must get going! Get those pendants away from here! Bronze and I will take care of everything from here on!" Silhou told the Queen.
A female, bronze colored hedgehog then stood next to Silhou; Bronze the Hedgehog, Silhou's sister. Bronze then launched a metal crate at the demon, allowing Aleena to continue fleeing from there.
"No! The pendants! Damn you, Silhou! I will make sure you and your family burn in Hell! And, I'll take your son Shadow and make him my servant!" Mephiles screeched as he charged at the identical hedgehog.
The two of them went into a clash, Silhou's Chao Blade connecting with Mephiles' durable arm.
"You already stole my appearance! I will not let you take my son! Begone, foul demon!" Silhou growled at Mephiles.
Silhou used his other arm to make a Chaos Blade, and made a gash into the Sorcerer's stomach.
"No! NOOOOOOOO!!!!" He screamed as he changed into a true hedgehog form.
He spat blood out of his reformed mouth, and glared at his nemesis, a black and gold portal appearing beneath him. He then laughed as the portal sucked him inside. Silhou tried reaching for Mephiles, but it was too late, and he was gone. Bronze then went and put her hand on his shoulder.
"It's alright, Brother. You did what you could. The Queen will take the pendants to safe places. She has this handled, I know it." She spoke in a calm, soothing voice.
And sure enough, Bronze was right; Aleena finally managed to get her other two children to safe locations. She left Sonic, her eldest son, in Knothole Village, her old Freedom Fighter home with a note left behind for Sonic, and left Manic at an auto body shop owned by another family that are friends of hers.
After many hours, she reunites with her friends, holding two other pendants. She gives Bronze a violin shaped pendant, and Silhou a bass shaped pendant.
"Please, leave these with Shadow and Silver. Those two and my children are our only hopes of restoring peace to this once great world. Meanwhile, I'll go into exile to keep the Master Pendant away from Mephiles." Aleena explained to her allies.
"Are you sure this is wise, my queen? What if your children lose their way?" Bronze asked, a concerned tone coming out of her mouth.
"Sister, I understand your concern, but this is Queen Aleena's decision. We cannot argue no matter how much we disagree with it." Silhou spoke, putting his arm in front of Bronze.
Bronze remained quiet, lowering her head. The siblings gave Aleena a few hugs, and she then walked into the horizon, going wherever destiny had planned for her. She looked back towards her kingdom, tears running down her face. She returns her gaze to the sunset in front of her, and disappears into the dark of night.
Silhou returns to his home, giving his son Shadow the bass pendant, and Bronze did the same with HER son Silver by giving him the violin pendant. They both looked up to the sky, hoping that one day, their home will once again see peace...
