Sam's POV
If I didn't know any better I'd say the man was about to spontaneously combust.

My brain was pondering if I really knew better.

We walked into the small bookstore and Bucky was practically everywhere at once. It was quaint, the shelves made a maze of rows and rows of books surrounding a small area of tables for readers/writers to sit peacefully. A librarian greeted us, her desk in the corner had an old computer and she was the classic older woman with wire glasses. She waved and watched with a sad smile as Bucky took off to the shelves.

He barely contained his excitement and had grabbed five books before I could blink.

I just laughed as he came to me grinning like a little kid.

"CanyouholdtheseformepleaseI'mgonnakeeplookingok?" I just nodded, still shaking my head and laughing.

He sped around the bookstore utterly in bliss with all the shelves of knowledge. We never once went into the non-fiction section as he fluttered around the fiction area.

I finally caught up with him and he had taken down a specific book to look at.

He read the cover aloud:

"-now made into a major motion picture," he gasped, whisper-yelling he looked at me in wonder. "THEY MADE THE HOBBIT INTO A MOVIE?!?!"

"Yes. Wait, you read the Hobbit? You know about Gandalf?"

"Yes Samuel. I read the Hobbit when it first came out. Do keep up?" His voice was prideful and adorable. Gods this man was such a geeky nerd. I didn't mean it in offense but he had handed me seven books now in total.

He scanned the shelves with a final look. "Ok. I think we're good."

"...did you go through the whole library?"

He nodded, grabbing the books from me and making his way to the librarian.

"Wait wait wait lemme look at those books and I'll tell you which ones you'll actually like."

He gave me a confused look but shook it off as Bucky put them on a table.

I read each one carefully.

"Ok you'll definitely love the Hunger Games books. Yes! Good choice the Percy Jackson series is something you'll love and here you have 1,2, and 3. Don't. Watch. The. Movies. Nice you got the first two Harry Potter books. Ok so the rest of these look pretty good."

He nodded, clearly proud of his work.

The librarian just smiled at us as I set all the books on the counter.

"Do you have a card? If not I can give you one, I have a feeling you'll be an avid reader." Her eyes sparkled in a kind way.

Bucky nodded quickly and started writing down his information.

Half of me thought about the consequences of Bucky writing down his info, but the other half reasoned it was a kind little old lady. What would she do?

She rang up the books and the ex-assassin took out the right amount of money.

Before I knew it we were walking back to the compound, Bucky kept pace even with the bag of books in his left hand.

We got back to the compound to find almost everybody on the couch. Bruce, Nat, Wanda, and Vision were all on the couches/seats surrounding the TV.

We walked by, enduring their suggestive glances and smirks. I was waiting for it.

The teasing. The nitpicking and rude comments. I'd heard them all my life. Mentally I prepared comebacks and counter-attacks for anything they would try to say.

Bucky spoke before I could:

"Alright ya nosy spies. The date went amazing. We went to a small cafe and I got books. Nothing to see or worry about except these amazing things," he motioned to the bag filled with his new reading material. "SEE LOOK BOOKS!!"

The ex-assassin started to proudly show off his book collection.

Bruce and Vision bent forward gladly to look at Bucky's newest purchases.

Nat and Wanda looked at me, both raising an eyebrow.

I hid my face, hoping they couldn't see the blush painted on my neck and cheeks.

They eventually paid more attention to Bucky as he informed Nat about his books.

"Ok I'm gonna take these to my room. What're you guys doing?"

"We we're gonna watch a movie, maybe make a small dinner or something how's that sound?"

Bucky raced down the hallway while I just smiled.

"That's sounds great. Whatcha gonna watch?"

Bruce shrugged. As soon as Bucky was out of super-soldier enhanced hearing earshot, I asked Nat in a low voice.

"Where's Tony and Steve?"

"In the lab. Didn't you pass them on the way up?"

Come to think of it I didn't even look. I was too busy staring at the bookish nerd next to me as he talked about the books he read in the 40's.

"I wasn't paying attention-"

Before I could finish, I could see a timid figure out of the corner of my eye.

From the hallway, Barnes was standing in sweatpants and a loose shirt. He looked scared, almost ashamed as if he couldn't join us. Everyone was in small conversation, about the movie, what we would make to eat, etc.

I wish he would tell me why he hesitated. In my head, I knew it wasn't because of us. It was because of something else, but I wasn't about to push him.

Vision's voice broke over everyone's conversations. "Mr.Barnes it'd be nice of you to join us. Do you have any movie preference of what we watch?"

Bucky's eyes lit up as he came over to me gently. Same thing as last time:

Wanda and Vision were on the loveseat.

Nat and I were on the longer couch.

Since Tony was smart when he built and designed the compound there was an extra recliner (Bruce).

Bucky slide in beside me, this time asking for the blanket immediately.

Therefore I have it to him, but made a smooth move to pull it back. Pulling him closer to me.

Nat groaned loudly, feigning annoyance. "Alright lover boys we don't have forever. What movie?"
