CHAPTER 14: MOURN

You were that one kid who loves writing. You write journal entries, diary entries, your thoughts–anything. You best express yourself through writing, and you best describe your worries through a piece of paper.

'My father recently fought with my mother. I don't know how long this attitude of theirs would last.' You scribbled on a sheet of paper.

'I plan to work hard in my studies and provide for them in the future so that they won't argue about money anymore.' Your eyes bored into the sheet of paper filled with nothing but blue lines and your messy handwriting.

'I don't know if it will work.' You tapped your ballpen against the surface, creating little black dots.

"Move to your respective groups!" The Teacher's instruction stopped you. You glanced up and began to walk towards the group of people you were assigned with.

It's the usual kind of group. The one you were usually assigned with since the beginning of the semester.

You made sure to bring your sheet of paper with you to ensure that no one would come up to your seat and take a peek at what personal things you have written.

Once you arrived at the giant table, a person started to speak and automatically become the leader of the group.

"You all brought the materials, right?" The girl, who you forgot the name of, asked the whole group. You all nodded with some uttering "yeahs."

"Great! Let's start giving each other suggestions and ideas for this project." She continued. You slipped a piece of paper to her, containing your concept of the project.

"This is all my mind came up with." You said, gliding the paper to her which she grabbed and read in amazement. "Nice! We can mix your idea with the others," She replied.

You nodded and rested your head on the table with your arms supporting you. The boy beside you took a curious glance at you, which you didn't mind.

The classmate who stared at you was a new student. He's very friendly with everyone, and he's also acquainted with you.

"(Y/N). " He called out. "You good?" He looked at you with doe eyes showing concern.

"Ah, yup." You sat up correctly with your back straight. "I'm fine," you showed him your dominant hand's thumb.

"Alright." He flashed you a cheeky smile. His eyes constantly glancing toward the paper in your hand.

Your thoughts are seen.

"(Y/N), what should we do on this part?" The girl from earlier called you. You left your seat, making sure that your paper with your writings was facing the table. The backside, is empty, only being publicly seen by those around.

"This can be the part where the advertisement comes in, it could be like some sort of short-break things that you usually see on television." Your fingers moved across the paper containing the sequence of your video project. "So, it would probably be like the main video to the advertisement, main video, and then advertisement." You continued.

"Alright!" The girl grinned. You immediately went back to your chair and sat down, bringing your head in your arms once again.

You moved your head to the side, looking and listening to what your other group mates are saying.

You yawned. The electric fan on the ceiling and the wind coming from the open windows made you feel comfortable enough to take a quick nap.

"(Y/N)." You opened your eyes. Your head moves to the other side to see the face of your new classmate, Lois.

His head rested on his arms like yours, both of your heads are close to each other.

"Do you also face troubles at home?" He asked. Those doe eyes of his getting glossy.

"Huh!?" You perked up. You suddenly sat up straight, your eyebrows furrowed at him. "Did you read my paper?"

"It's okay." His voice was calming. Relaxing and soft, which almost made your heart beat go back to normal from being in a panic. "I had that too, my mother just died when I was ten, and my parents usually fought, before and maybe after she died." He chuckled.

"Father sometimes argues with me, but I guess it would get better soon." His eyes are glued to mine. A smile adorning his face. "Hopefully yours will too."

____

Drop,

Drop,

Drop.

Rain began to seep from the cloud. Tears of the rain mixed with your own, fall towards your umbrella and coffin of Lois.

Only a few people are present. People who you don't know the name of, but were probably acquainted with the Jean family.

It has already been almost an hour as you stared at the brown-colored coffin. The rain was also beginning to slow down.

"It's time to go now." The painter wrapped one of his arms around your waist. "Go and bid goodbye for the last time." His smile, bright as ever, was directed at you.

You continued to sob. Constantly inhaling through your nose to bring back your falling snot.

The grin on Calvin's face never fell.
