Elisha's POV
Have you ever felt so helpless in your life before. Have you witnessed something so great that you build deteriorate and crumbled to the ground. That's exactly how I feel like now.
I stood on my balcony all alone, soaking in the beauty of the sunset. At the bottom I could see a woman walking alone whilst there was a couple strolling in front of her, hand in hand. In some strange way this represented my life in the near future. I'll be so scared of love that people whom I hang out with, will have already have been married or created their own families whereas I'll be this lonely woman living by herself.
I stared down at the journal Bennet had bought for me. I smiled as I remember how enthusiastic he had been the day he bought his first Bible. I remembered how he kept telling me that he was my date at the family gathering and how thrilled he was on going.
"Why do you have to leave?"
I thought to myself.
"Can't you stay for a little longer?"
I could hear keys being inserted into the door and someone entering the house. I grabbed my journal and went inside to check if it was Brielle.
"Honey I'm home!"
She yelled, kicking off her shoes by the door.
"Hi Brie Brie."
I responded tediously.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes."
I attempted to lie even though it was pretty obvious I wasn't fine.
"Girl I might look young but I wasn't born yesterday. Something is clearly wrong and I won't leave you until you tell me what it is."
"Nothing's wrong Brielle, I'm just tired and need some rest."
"Since when do you sleep in the afternoon?"
"Since I became sleepy in the afternoon."
I snapped.
"I was just asking as a concerned friend, no need for you to snap at me like that."
She rolled her eyes and picked up the remote.
"I'm sorry it's just so much is happening and I feel like I'm drowning in my life problems."
"Its Bennet, isn't it? He told you that he's leaving tommorow?"
"How did you know?"
"He came to the cafe today and told me."
I felt so exposed right now.
"Elisha why did you reject him even though you have feelings for him."
"I like him as a friend, nothing more nothing less."
"So tell me why you always smile when I bring up his name and why you introduced him to your family. Tell me why you're always ready to help him whenever he is troubled and why you almost kissed."
"We never kissed!"
I objected. Even though I was melanin, my skin became pale from shock.
"If Caleb never interfered, you would have kissed."
"Who told you this?"
"What can I say, I make a good wing women."
"Its Ben isn't it."
"All I'm telling you is that you can't push away every guy you have feelings for forever. Just because one weird looking boy called Samuel broke your heart doesn't mean all other guys are the same. Trust Bennet, as hard as it is to say, he is a wonderful guy. I know God made both your paths cross for a reason. You just need to stop blocking your blessings and let God dictate your life."
I listened to her little speech. Although,I hate to admit it she had a point but my heart was still scared. I couldn't bring myself to trust any guy again and have romantic feelings for.
"If you need me, I'll be in my room thinking about whatever crosses my mind."
She announced doing the peace sign.
I nodded my head and watched her petite figure disappear into her room.
