DANNY ☻
- Present -I woke up to gentle kisses. One on my neck, that of the bare chest. One on my lips I opened my eyes and looked into Rachel's ocean blue eyes. She smiled. My fiancee smiled at me.
"Good morning, sleepyhead," she said before getting up and picking up her bra and panties from the floor and taking them to the bathroom. I closed my eyes once and took a deep breath.
Today is Friday.
Maybe Rachel feels like it and we can go to the boathouse, if we haven't been there for a long time and since we had three days together, why not?
"Rachel," I call out as I get up and slowly get ready for the upcoming work. Hopefully Noah has everything ready already. Noah and I have known each other for quite a long time. Best friends forever. I had met him when I was just moved to Boston with the family.
On the beach he hit me in the head with a volleyball. The start of a good and close friendship. He's not only my best friend, no, but also my right hand man. I have no idea where I would be professionally without him.
I was just buttoning the black shirt when the bathroom door opened. "You called?" Rachel came out of the bathroom in a pink and white sundress. That's when I remembered I had to go to the city later to get her an engagement ring.
"Would you like to go out?"
"To the boathouse? I haven't been there for a long time. I wonder if Emily's still there." Then it's settled. I lifted the corners of my mouth slightly. Emily is a nice old lady who lived a few blocks from the boathouse. "Then pack your things, we'll go after work." .

Only sometimes everything turned out completely differently, no matter how much you resist it. "Those aren't the right papers, Noah," I said for the fourth time, tossing them onto the other useless pile.
He sighed in exasperation and crossed his arms over his chest. "I have no idea where they are."
"But they're damn important. I dunno, call Amber and you two can look for her."
"Over the weekend?".
"You know how important they are?" I growled, getting up from the office chair.
This day is so exhausting.Noah put a hand on my shoulder, which I shook away. Why aren't the papers here in the office either? They were still there yesterday. Maybe someone just took them away? Because then I had a problem.
These are important documents for the next project.
"We'll find her, Danny," said my friend, bringing me back to the here and now. But I couldn't do anything about the situation at the moment, except to see for myself.
That means the boathouse had to wait. Rachel had to wait. I rubbed my cheek.
Just as I was about to open my mouth, Amber walked in. Smiling. "What would you do without me?"
"Probably dying?" Noah said with a smirk in his undertone.
I ran to the table and looked at the documents. "Where were you?".
"Next to the coffee machine, Mr. Graywarth".
I nodded knowingly while throwing a stone at me heart fell. "Thanks".
