SMALL SPOILER ALERT! THERE'S A VERY SMALL MENTION OF THE NEWEST STRANGER THINGS SEASON

Matt Sturniolo POV

I strode through the house to the kitchen to get a Coke. I can't help but look over my shoulder every so often, because I'm so on edge. Especially after watching the newest Stranger Things season. I'm not saying that it actually scared me, but it did make me a little jumpy. I mean, it's crazy that each of the victims heard that creepy clock go off before dying. It makes me wonder if that sort of thing can happen. The body breaking in so many places at once part, I mean. That stuff was pretty messed up to be honest. It just about made me look away. Since literally everyone's gone, I decided to finish the season to catch up with Nick and Chris. They finished it as soon as it came out but had no desire to rewatch it with me. So, I took it upon myself to complete it. Right now, they said they'd go out with a few friends to grab some stuff at the store. I looked behind me again for extra measure before grabbing the Coke from the fridge and opening it. After a good, long sip, I began to turn around to return to my room when I heard it. It was that creepy clock sound. The chimes echoed throughout the house, slowly fading in a way that you know that the clock's broken. Frowning in both shock and confusion, I looked around. I'm not going to lie, but my hands are shaking pretty badly right now. No, no, no, I thought as I frantically searched for the source of the sound. My breathing picked up pretty quickly once I realized what the sound actually means. I stood there in the living room, trembling from head to toe, and got ready for what would most likely come next if Stranger Things is anything to go by. I closed my eyes tightly, almost imagining what the feeling would be like to rise into the air. The worst part is, I'm completely alone right now. Which means I won't be able to say goodbye to my brothers, to my parents. Would it be a sad funeral? One can only wonder. But... I don't want to die. There's so much I haven't done yet. There's so much to live for. A few tears sprang to my eyes as I came to the realization that I won't be able to see my family again. I'm not ready to die. Will it be quick? Or will the pain be painfully drawn out like it is in the show? Well... I thought I was alone. But a lot of laughing could be heard from behind me, and the clock chimes disappeared immediately after. Chest still heaving up and down, I reopened my eyes and slowly turned around. I bet you'd never guess who it is... It's Nick and Chris. They clutched their stomachs as they doubled over, roaring with laughter.
"I can't believe you fell for that!" Chris laughed.
"What..." I breathed, becoming more upset by the minute.
That's when I saw a camera in Nick's hand.
"You did all this..." I murmured. "For a stupid video."
Slowly, the smiles vanished from Chris and Nick's faces. I hadn't noticed that tears are now streaming down my face. I don't want to cry in front of my brothers, but it's like I can't stop it. Nick turned off the camera and stepped forward.
"Matt, are you okay?" he questioned in concern.
"Why would you do that?" I asked pitifully, my voice shaking a little.
"We-we didn't know," Chris stammered. "Matt, I'm so sorry."
"Yeah, it was supposed to be a prank," Nick said sheepishly.
"Some prank," I scoffed, shaking my my head.
"Matt, wait," he grabbed my arm before I could get anywhere. "Let us make it up to you."
"Please," Chris pleaded.
I stared at the both of them as they looked at me desperately. Finally, I sighed in defeat.
"I guess," I shrugged.
I might not be able to forgive them fully just yet, but I they're still my brothers.
