Part 13
ride or die!🪓
It was already quarter to six. The purple hue of the sunset has already past to dark blue until the front walk turns into a blind path, tolerating the dark. Lisa has been absently staring at her ceiling for a couple of hours now, laying supine in her bed, mind blank yet ready to act.
When she hears the rattling of the door downstairs, the lone girl instantly sits up as Yugyeom gets back from his trek. His heavy footsteps is undeniably clear even away from a closed room.
Lisa prepares herself.
"Did you already give her meal?" She hears Yugyeom say. "I won't be back until tomorrow. Make sure she won't go anywhere."
"She's already asleep. I've been checking every half an hour. I can handle it."
Hendery is still on the go with his offered plan. The young man knows he's trying to make her situation a bit easy. And honestly, Lisa don't know where it would lead her, but she's not worried at this time.
She might consider him a possible ally. At least for now.
Walking closer to her door, she prays that Hendery did not change his mind about his plot. Lisa places her palm on the knob, lets out a deep breath, and rejoices as the door opens. Hendery leaves it unlock. Silently, she carefully walks out of the room, and closing back the door with a mindful pull.
In a borrowed jeans and black T-shirt, decent sneakers and a key pendant, Lisa brings nothing but herself. She leans against the staircase, looking down as she sees Yugyeom drinking a glass of water.
Finishing a final gulp, emptying it, he slides the glass near the sink; he then turns to acknowledge Hendery behind him.
"Are you sure she's asleep?" Yugyeom queries, unconfident about the lack of confirmation.
"Hundred percent sure." The older glares at his brother's friendly smile. "Why? You want to see her upstairs?"
Lisa felt her heart skyrocketed at Hendery suggestion; she's already out of her room. She slides down the staircase, hiding any shadow or any of her figure to be seen from downstairs.
"It's fine. I'll be going now anyways." Yugyeom excuses, walking out from her frame of sight completely. "I'll take the bathroom first."
"Alright."
Like a cue, Hendery secretly takes one of his bottle collection beneath the sink, and purposely breaks one on the process.
It means to flee right now and there, intended for Lisa.
"What the fuck was that?" Yugyeom yells through the other room.
"Nothing! I broke one of my bottles!"
And Lisa steps down the stairs, as careful and quiet as an unseen sneaker in the night. Without any words, she passes Hendery in their kitchen, guarding the bathroom for her, and leaves her a reassuring nod.
No time for any words of gratitude, Lisa inserts the given key to the front door, hoping it won't make any noise of inconvenience. Lucky enough, she was out as smoothly as ever.
The breeze of young night welcomes her once she closes the front door successfully. She breathes it in and out, like she's been craving the fresh gush near the grasses and tress.
Walking more, she spots his car parked nearby. She thinks about sitting in the shotgun, but she knows Yugyeom would raise a fuss if he sees her out to join him in his shady rendezvous.
Hearing his voice at close hand, Lisa rushes to open the car door at the passenger seat, forcing herself to fit in the dark floor board. She smells all the dirt and rust, but she holds it in to cover her sneak.
Her heart beats faster, adrenaline rushing, Lisa hears the car sways as Yugyeom enters the car a little after. Its engine hums to life, a familiar noise when she first sees him in the vast clearing.
Yugyeom checks his rear mirror, noticing a change on it's position. He adjusted it, and turns to look at the house as Hendery waits at the front door. With a loud horn, he twists the steering wheel, and changes gear.
He had a feeling that tonight's transaction with the Manoban's bagman will change. Just a hunch, but he knows it's starting to alter for good.
While, Lisa prays she won't fuck up her lousy covert.
