Yawn, detention couldn't get any more boring for Risa. She sat in the quiet classroom, the ticking of the wall clock was the only thing distracting her from the dreadful atmosphere. She was hoping to hang out with her little gang after class, it just so happens that she got herself in trouble at lunch
Five other students her age scattered about the room, bored out of their minds, just like her. She couldn't care less on finding out how those kids found themselves in detention. Risa sat in the far corner of the room, recalling how she got here in the first place
An unlucky girl decided it would be funny to do a little prank on one of Risa's dearest friends, earning herself a black eye. No one was sure who was more humiliated, Risa's friend or the girl she punched square in the face. It was at that time when Risa realized she hit harder than she thought she did
The poor girl had to be sent to the nurse's office after the incident, receiving a three day suspension for the prank she pulled. Risa, being one of the school's stop student, only got detention as punishment. Being the smart kid really does pay off sometimes
She silently laughed at the memory, the detention was worth it. The girl surely knows not to mess with her friends now
The classroom door opens and closes again with a click and Risa almost jolted out of her chair as she sees another, presumably, delinquent enter the room. Leni, her friend who was the victim of the prank from earlier, appears by the doorway
Their eyes met and Risa basically gave her a "what are you doing here?" look, Leni only shrugged
The teacher who escorted Leni inside once again told them to behave while he's not around before leaving the room. Leni turns to look at Risa with a smile, approaching her "Anong ginawa mo???" Risa whispered as her friend got closer. It was unbelievable, despite sticking around Risa's circle of friends, Leni wasn't one to get herself in trouble, so her getting detention was a first
"Uhh, well..." Leni took a seat next to her, scooting her chair closer "In-approach ako nung isang friend ni Sara after that stupid prank she pulled, let's just say na deserve nyang masampal" The mention of the name made Risa's blood boil. That little shit, the satisfaction of leaving a mark on her face is something Risa will never forget "Thank you for coming to my aid earlier, bawi ako sayo next time" Leni tells her, her soft hand lightly squeezing Risa's arm as her way of showing appreciation
The simple touch was sure to give Risa butterflies. She grinned, happy and also proud she got to help her friend, especially Leni "Wala yun, no one deserves to get humiliated like that. Pero, ba't mo naman ginawa yon? Akala ko ba ayaw mo sa gulo ha" Risa tuts, crossing her arms "Ikaw ha, rebellious era mo ba toh?"
"Wala akong kasama eh"
Risa was taken aback, it was definitely an answer she didn't expect. She looked Leni right in the eye to see if she was kidding or not but it seems that she wasn't, only giving Risa her usual dimpled (and cute) smile
Risa realized their faces were inches close from each other, but she couldn't be bothered to back away. She was sure glad she decided to sit in the back of the room where no one would bother looking behind
"Seryoso ka ba??"
"Oo"
"Hindi nga?"
"Oo nga"
"Hindi ngaaa?"
Leni sighs in irritation "Kulit mo, oo ngaaaa. Ayaw mo bang nandito ako?" Leni pouts, brows furrowed. Unbelievable, she couldn't believe her friend would want to get herself in detention simply because she didn't want by herself
Although, Risa can't deny that she loves the other girl's company right now, amazed that she'd go beyond her way to hang out with the younger girl
"Pwede ka namang sumama doon kila Chel ah?"
"So ayaw mo ngang nandito ako?" The older girl backed away, her back now laid against the chair with a pout. Risa thought nothing of it, knowing that the gesture was just her friend kidding around. Leni shakes her head at the question "Hindi ko naman ka-close mga friends mo. Alam mo namang you're the only one i actually hang out with" She answers, lightly chuckling "Di masaya kapag di kita kasama..." Leni whispers, barely audible to Risa
"Ano yon? Ba't ka bumubulong?"
The older girl shakes her head "Wala yun, sabi ko ang boring dito"
They spent the last hour of detention quietly chatting with each other, simply enjoying each other's company until they were finally told by the teacher that their detention was over
The two lets out an exaggerated sigh of relief, gathering their bags before Leni held the taller girl's hand "Tara, kain tayo kwek-kwek sa labas" Leni tells her, slinging her bag on her shoulders with one hand
Risa's gaze on the hand that held hers was longer than she intended, a blush creeping up to her face. She laughs, hoping her friend doesn't notice how flustered she looked "Basta libre mo" They start to walk out of the room, fingers intertwined
"Fine, since naging knight in shining armor naman kita kanina" They walk across the hallway hand-in-hand, the older woman. Leni was always giddier when it was just the two of them, away from her group of friends, something Risa had noticed about her
The thought of it was comforting to Risa, having the privilege to be the only one who makes her dearest friend that happy "Pero dapat bawi ka sakin bukas after class, nagpa-detention ako para sayo" Leni tells her with a smug look on her face
Risa rolled her eyes, a small smile on her face "Ulol mo, 'di ko naman sinabing magpa-detention ka" Risa tuts, but she wouldn't actually mind giving the older girl a treat, maybe a little date if she had the guts to ask about it
Meanwhile, a few feet away from them was Chel, Sonny, and Leila, who was hoping to meet Risa after her detention, now watched the two as they held hands and laughed together before finally disappearing from their view
"Daya naman, ba't tayo di nililibre ng kwek-kwek" Sonny jokingly says with a huff
"Wala kasing gustong magligtas sayo bhie, sungit mo eh" Says Chel, earning a light smack from the other boy which Chel only ignored "Puntahan kaya natin sila?"
Leila shakes her head at the two, turning to look again at the now empty hallway "Wag na, sisirain pa natin date nilang dalawa"
