Seraphina:
The seventeen-year-old opened her eyes, the darkness in the room overwhelming, the air thick; sitting up; the blonde was terrified but had no idea why, swallowing her fear, she slowly stood, unsure why she was on the floor. A throbbing from her head had her bringing her hand up to her forehead to discover blood on her fingers. What happened? Sera tried to open the windows but found them to be nailed shut. That was new. Peering outside, the blonde spied nothing except the dark void of the night. Panic was swimming throughout her body, her chest feeling constricted from terror. She could barely breathe as she moved to the doorway. Looking out into the dark hallway, unable to understand why she was so terrified at the moment. It was quiet, or was that why? A creak sounded from somewhere downstairs, bringing on even further fear.
Swallowing her dread, she slowly made her way further into the hall. Having no weapon, she hesitantly moved further from her room, her brother's old baseball bat catching her eye. Grabbing it, Sera held it tightly to her before moving swiftly down the stairs. Stepping into the living room, she was thankful the lamp was on; however, the bulb must be dying, flickering on and off. Something dropped in her parent's room, freezing her to the spot. Were her parents awake? Anxiety gripped her, causing her to falter. Maybe she should go to her room, yet the feeling of trepidation wouldn't leave her. Deciding to double-check that her parents were still in their rooms and asleep, she moved toward their room.
Standing before the master bedroom, the teen found it impossible to proceed in touching the knob. Goosebumps traveled up her arm, her heart pounding against her chest, making it hard for her to inhale. Just open the door, stupid. She tried to encourage herself, but it wasn't working. Scared of waking her father, she slowly turned the knob, only opening the door partway to peer inside. The scene made her eyes widen in terror. Her mouth tried to scream, but nothing came out. Her brother Lucas, who used to be her hero, protector, and teacher before turning into their father, stood over her parents' bed. He held a knife in one hand, the moonlight reflecting off its bloody metal blade. Her brother raised his other arm, showing off their mother's head clutched by the hair, the dead horror-filled eyes staring at Sera. Her father's body was pinned to the wall, his insides falling through the tear along his abdomen. Finally, a scream that could not be kept within her shook the silence, followed by the bat hitting the ground. Lucas turned to look at her. His eyes were pure black evil. Pulling back his arm, he flung the head at her, but her body working on adrenaline alone, turned, slamming the door shut. Quickly pushing a table that clearly wouldn't hold long in front of the door, the blonde ran into the living room. Rushing toward the front door before noticing her father had left the cordless phone on the table, Sera grabbed it.
Dialing Draven's number as quickly as her fingers could, "Come on, come on! Please!" She had a desperate need to hear Draven's voice. He was the only one she could turn to.
"Hello?"
"Draven, Lucas finally snapped!! He killed my parents! He had black eyes. What should I do?" Realizing this would unquestionably cause Draven to return to her house, she freaked out, "Don't come here! He will get you too-" Suddenly, her brother was beside her. Grabbing the phone, he tossed it to the ground as Sera screamed and bolted for the door. Turning the lock was as far as she got before her brother latched onto her neck, pulling her away from it. "Why! Why are you doing this?" Tears flowed, blurring her vision. He made her face him, his grin turning her paler than she already was. He had turned into a jerk recently, but this? How could he? "Stay away from me!" She remembered a move Draven had taught her, bringing her foot down hard on Lucas's knee. It startled him more than hurt; however, it was enough for her to make it across the room.
Only stopping to unlock the window, not knowing he was already alongside her again. Screaming, the blonde ran the other way and almost made it when she was tackled, sending them into the 200-gallon saltwater fish tank. A searing agony shot down her back as the glass sliced her skin wide open, the salt entering the wound causing even more unbearable pain, but she fought to stay conscious. She pulled herself up, placing a bloody hand on the wall, blood pouring from the wound already creating a wooziness. Her so-called brother reached for her, stopping an inch from her face. His screams echoed off the walls, with the appearance of smoke seeping from his exposed skin. Not knowing what was going on, yet intelligent enough to know getting out there was the only way to survive, she took action, forcing herself through the unopened window, dropping roughly to the ground below. The landing stole the wind out of her, but she couldn't stop! Ignoring the severely bleeding wounds, she stumbled into the woods, too scared to look back. She needed to get to Draven. She HAD TO. Miles from the cabin, Sera started walking in a daze through the trees, trying to get to it, hoping Draven was still there. Too in shock to notice the pain or trail of blood she left behind, her body was close to shutting down from blood loss, yet she refused to stop. Sera wanted nothing more than to get to Draven, even if only to say her goodbyes. Not sure if she was two feet from the house or hundreds, Sera stopped in the darkness of the night at a voice yelling. Focusing on it, she didn't hear anything else. Unaware of what was coming, the headlights cleared the curve, and a car barreled down on her, horn blaring, about to hit her...
