Third person
You and your family start heading to the reaping ceremony. You split up with them when it's time for you to check in and go to your age group. As you walk to your age group you see everyone looking at you, not that it's surprising district 8 is pretty small.Once everyone got to where they needed to be district 8's escort came out to give the speech and play the video.
First person POV:
I see our district escort come out to greet us, his name is Beetee (I think idk I couldn't find anything on Google - Writer) once Beetee finished his speech he played the video about about the hunger games. I just tuned it out since I've listened to it about 5 or 4 times.Once the video was over Beetee spoke into the microphone and said "May the odds forever be in your favor" "Ladies first" he said as he walked over to the bowl with all the girl names
My heart was racing my breathing hitched, oh gosh I hope I'm not picked I thought. I know it was selfish to wish not to go into the games and to rather have someone else go, but once again these are the games nothing about this isn't selfish.
Beetee was taking his sweet time picking a name, he'd grab one, than let go. He finally picked one and headed over to the microphone. He undid the folded piece of paper and spoke into the microphone.
"Y/n L/n." My breathing stopped, everyone looked at me, eventually my feet started to move without my knowledge and I walked up the stage. Everyone was looking at me, no staring at me. Eventually I see my little brother running towards me, I crouch down. "Y/n please don't go!" He cried. Tears were threatening to spill. No I can't cry now, not here, I thought to myself. I hug him and say "Everything will be okay, I promise" peacekeepers came and picked him up and took him back to my family, I stand back up.
Beetee then spoke into the microphone, "uhh let's move on to the boys now." Beetee walks over and picks up a piece of paper and walks back. "Max l/n" he spoke.
"Now shake hands" beetee said motioning us to shake. My hands are so sweaty I don't want max to know how nervous I am. They push us into a room which I assume is where we say goodbye to our close ones
I'm waiting for my family to come in and say goodbye to me.My family come running in and hugging me. Than my older brother spoke up, "an axe, you need to get an axe when in the games. It's your best bet of survival, your great with axes you just have to worry about food, water, and the careers." "You'll make it out, I believe in you, we believe in you." He spoke
We get on the train to get to the capital. Silent, nether me or max spoke, but that silence is broken when our mentor walks in. Judy l/n. "Hi I'm Judy I'm your mentor" she spoke.
I don't know what the mentors name is so I made it up - author
