The Vanishing of Will Byers

November 6th,1983

Mike and his friends were playing D&D in the basement. Stephanie was in the kitchen washing dishes from dinner. "So, that boy Eddie called again, asking for you while you were at Robin's house." Karen, Stephanie's mom said eyeing her daughter. "He was probably calling to ask me about a question about homework or something. I'll call him later." Stephanie said. Karen looked at the clock and saw that it was "late" when is reality it was 8. "Mike!" Karen yelled three times before she opened the basement door. "Mom, we're in the middle of a campaign!" Mike argued. "You mean the end? Fifteen after." Then she walked back into the kitchen. Mike came in after her. "Mom wait, just twenty more minutes!" Mike asked. Stephanie turned her head to her younger brother smiling. "It is a school night, Micheal. I just put Holly to bed. You can finish next weekend." Karen stated not looking at him. "But that'll ruin the flow!" Stephanie leaned on the counter watching them. "Micheal-" Karen said. "I'm serious, mom. The campaign took two weeks to plan. How was I supposed to know it was gonna take ten hours?" Mike explains. "You've playing been playing for ten hours?" Karen asks, Mike looks at Stephanie with a pleading look. Stephanie puts her hands up in defense and turned around. Mike then went into the living room. "Dad, don't you think that twenty more--" Mike begins to ask. "I think you should listen to your mother." Ted, Stephanie's dad said. Stephanie rolled her eyes, because Ted was always like that. Mike looks back at Stephanie and she shakes her head saying don't argue. All the boys ran upstairs past Stephanie. Dustin holding a box of pizza. "Steph, do you want this?" Dustin asks. "Oh, Dusty, thanks but I'm full from dinner maybe try Nancy." Stephanie answered. Then she grabbed her water and went to talk to her mom. "So, Eddie?" Karen asked. Stephanie shakes her head. "Nothing is happening, I'm too focused on school." Stephanie says and hugs her mom.

Then she went to the garage to say bye to the boys. "Bye guys." Stephanie says as she walks outside. Moments later, Dustin walks out. "There's something wrong with your sister." Dustin says as he grabs his bike. He had to be talking about Nancy, because nothing was with Stephanie. "What are you talking about?" Mike asks. "She's got a stick up her butt." Dustin said. Stephanie silently chuckles next to Will. "Yeah. It's because she has been dating that douchebag, Steve Harrington." Lucas says. Stephanie makes a face, gonna have to talk to Nancy about that. Stephanie thought. "Bye Stephanie." Logan said to Stephanie. "Bye Logan." Stephanie said back before looking at Will. "Will, how's your mom and Johnathan?" Stephanie asked. "Their good. Mom is working a lot so is Johnathan. I have been drawing." Will says refusing to look at her. "Oh, maybe you could draw something for me so I can add it to my collection. Stephanie says giving him an idea. His face brightens. "Four years ago!" Mike shouts. "Just saying!" Dustin defends himself. "Later." Lucas says. Stephanie goes out into the driveway and shouts, "Bye Dustin!" Dustin shouts back. "See you Steph." Lucas zooms past her. "Bye, bye Lucas. Get home safe." She says. Then she walks back to Mike and Will. She pats Will's shoulder and says her byes to him. Then she stands next to Mike. "It was a seven. The roll, it was a seven. The Demogorgon it got me. See you tomorrow." Then Will leaves. Stephanie watches him leave not knowing that, that would be the last time she saw him. "Come on, let's go inside." Stephanie says to Mike who was looking at the outside light. Mike turned of the light and headed back inside with his sister.

She walked upstairs so she could call Eddie back. "Hello?" Eddie says through the phone. "Eddie you called earlier?" Stephanie asks. "Oh yeah. It was about a study session in a couple of days." Eddie says. "Oh, what subject?" Stephanie asks. "Math." Eddie answers. "Right on, how's Wednesday?" Stephanie asks. "Yeah, Wednesday works." Eddie responds. "Okay, see you tomorrow, goodnight!" Stephanie says. "Night!" Eddie responds. Then she hung up and got ready for bed.

The next morning, Stephanie was eating breakfast, next to Mike, the phone rang and Karen got up to answer it. Mike pours syrup on his eggs and Nancy says. "That is disgusting." Why does she have to be like this? Stephanie thought. "You're disgusting!" Mike retaliates. Stephanie just watched the scene unfold. Then Mike pours syrup on Nancy's eggs causing her to react. "What the hell Mike?" Stephanie hits him in the shoulder giving him a look. He looks down. When she finished eating. After she was done she went to school.
