CHAPTER THIRTY NINE

"The item was successfully retrieved. Mr David is currently with Blake and Zel." sabi ni Clayd kay paps na kasalukuyang naka-upo sa hospital bed niya.

Clayd and I headed here after namin maayos at maasikaso ang mission namin last night. Blake and Zel, on the other hand, went out with Mr David para maibalik ang item sa original place nito.

"Very good." Paps said while giving us a fine smile.

"How's your wound?" he suddenly asked, looking at me with concern in his eyes. Napatingin nalang ako sa kanang braso ko.

"Fine, it's not that deep anyway." I simply answered and he just gave me a nod, and then suddenly someone knocked at the door kaya napalingon kami doon.

"Sorry, did I interrupt your conversation?" tanong ni Doc nang makapasok siya kasama ang isang nurse.

"We'll be changing his bandage and it's time to take his antibiotic as well." he added while looking at the chart na hawak niya.

Clayd and I just nodded while paps is talking to him about some stuff. The nurse was looking at the vitals as they started cleaning paps' wound.

Then suddenly my phone rings kaya kinuha ko agad ito sa bulsa ko at tiningnan kung sino ang tumatawag.

Ice...

"I'll just answer this." ani ko at lumabas ng kwarto ni paps. I was about to answer the call pero namatay na ito, kaya napabuntong hininga nalang ako at naglakad paalis.

Right, it's been two days that I haven't opened my phone.

My feet took me to the hospital's rooftop. At malakas na hangin agad ang sumalubong sa akin kaya napahawak ako sa buhok ko na sumasabay sa flow ng hangin.

Napabuntong hininga ako at tiningnan ang contacts and the number na nasa screen ng cellphone ko before I click the call button.

"Hi." agad na bungad ko ng sagutin niya ang tawag ko while I just looking at the sky.

"Shein... I've been calling you, but you're always out of coverage... May nangyari ba?" he slowly uttered and confusedly asked.

"Ah... Wala... Nawala kasi yung phone ko, kanina ko lang nahanap." napakagat nalang ako sa lower lip ko after I said those words.

Sorry, Ice... I can't... I can't tell you my situation right now. After what happened to paps and Mr David, I feel like my mind went blank. After our mission last night, maraming pumasok sa isip ko. Maraming tanong, at nalilito ako, hindi ko alam kung paniniwalaan ko ba ang mga ideyang pumapasok sa isip ko or just let the day pass and wait for the moment where I can fully satisfied my self for the answers I'm looking for.

"Ganon ba... Where are you right now?" he asked again.

"At home. Why?" tanging sagot ko, which is another lie. Na-gui-guilty na ako... I'm really sorry...

"Nothing." he simply said, I just nodded at tumingin sa mga katabing buildings ng hospital then ibinalik ang tingin ulit sa langit.

The accident that happened to paps and Mr David two days ago, hindi yun inilabas sa news or kahit saan. Clayd and Blake work for it not to let the press and journalist know about what happened. Well, except the people who were involved and who saw what happened.

Early this morning, Mr David got discharge para mas maayos ang mga nangyari. We can't let the citizens know about what happened... He was also incharge to bring back the item to its real place, sinamahan siya ni Blake at Zel to insure his safety.

We can't let our guard down these days. Lalo na't, I still don't know who was behind those incident. Mr David and Paps knew something pero wala pa silang sinasabi sa akin, sa amin.
