He was insane.
Lucas Sinclair was officially crazy.
Another world under this called the 'Upside Down' where monsters like Demogorgon's lived and there's a girl with superpowers who accidently opened the gate to this other dimension? Yeah, this kid had completely lost it.
Max wasn't convinced either, but Lucas seemed very adamant that he was telling the truth and that he had proof. So you figured what could it hurt? If anything, this was going to be entertaining.
"Your sister thinks I'm crazy." Lucas whispered to Max from where the two of them were walking a little ahead of you. Lucas pushing his bike beside him as he led the way.
"Of course, she does. Even I think you're crazy, Stalker."
Stalker? What kind of nickname was that?
"Is she the sister that's been in jail?" He whispered a few seconds later. "Wait, do you have any other sisters?"
"Technically, step-sister. She is my only sister and yes, she just got out of jail." Max replied, making sure to keep her voice low, but you could still hear her.
"What was she in jail for?"
You knew that question was coming. It was always the first thing someone asked when they found out.
"What's with all these questions, does it matter?"
Lucas just shrugged his shoulders which seemed to be the end of that conversation to your relief. Even if Max wanted to answer that question, she had no idea what happened. All she knew was that you were in jail for assault, that was it and you were going to keep it that way.
It didn't take long before you reached the junkyard. Two other guys were already there waiting and standing beside a pile of what looked to be chopped up meat on the ground.
Oh, they were serious about trying to lure this Demogorgon monster thing here, weren't they?
"I said medium-well!" Lucas shouted as the three of you walked towards them.
You could see the shock and confusion on their faces when they saw you and Max. The younger boy with the hat looked more annoyed than anything while the older guy with fluffy looking hair was just confused.
You took note of the baseball bat sticking out from his backpack that had nails hammered into it. Interesting weapon of choice.
Wait, should you have bought a weapon too? Wait, no, what for? A Demogorgon? Yeah, right.
"Umm, hey, I don't think we've met before, I'm Steve Harrington." He said taking a step forward and holding his hand out towards you with a bright smile. "It is a pleasure to meet you."
He was cute, you'd give him that. A little cocky, but cute.
"Y/N Hargrove." You replied, shaking his hand before he suddenly froze.
"Hargrove? As in Billy Hargrove?" He asked a little taken back before his eyes widened in realisation. "You're his twin sister, right?"
"How'd you know?"
"Everyone knows about you. The first girl in Hawkins to get locked up for something serious. You were the talk of the town when Billy and Max moved here." The kid with the hat -Dustin- explained.
Okay, you were not expecting that.
"I've never even been in Hawkins until today. How do people know me?"
"Gossip in Hawkins spreads like wildfire." Lucas answered.
Great, a town that likes to know everyone's business, perfect.
