Flashback:

The atmosphere was getting darker and darker each time.

Deciding on how it's gonna be if they actually let y/n be in the fighting court.

Should they or should they not?

It's too risky.

Besides, she wouldn't wake up whether it's tickling her or shaking her very roughly. Her eyes wouldn't open and they didn't even know if she was in a coma or she's just a very deep sleeper. It was like.. Her soul left her body, yet she wasn't dead. Her heart was beating at a normal rate and oxygen was very well inhaled in her throat.

What WAS happening?

Takemichi was there too, shaking tremendously from nervousness and exhaustion.

Mainly, it was his mind that was tired from thinking of all the other ways to either escape this hell or wake y/n up.

But sadly, their time ran out as well as Kiyomasa and the crowd's patience.

"Oi, you're taking too long. Might as well pick a choice quickly or I'll make you."

Kiyomasa said loudly, his voice echoing throughout the crowd.

Takemichi remembered all the things that would happen if he didn't protect y/n while fighting with Kiyomasa. It was a deal after all.

"TAKEMICHI!" A loud voice boomed through the school's hallways.

"Why'd you lose to a guy, that's not like you at all!" Takuya shouted.

Takemichi was confused, what fight- OH.

'He meant yesterday's match.'

Takemichi thought.

Suddenly, Akkun opened the door and went inside, causing the whole gang to look at him.

"They're making us fight against today. I just got a message from Kiyomasa-kun."

Those were his clear words that never got out of Takemichi's mind.

The delinquent was alarmed. Who was it this time?

"It's Takuya today, he'll be the one who fights Kiyomasa-kun."

Takemichi could see the color drain from Takuya's face entirely.

Suddenly, Kazushi and Makoto burst out, "He's no good at fighting!" & "No way, he can't send Takuya there!"

What they said was true.

Takuya was frail and couldn't beat Kiyomasa and his men.

But because of his confidence and courage, Takuya immediately sucked up the painful thought of being beaten in a pulp and seeing bruises at home.

Instead, he smiled.

"Takemichi, just watch!"

"I'll avenge you!"

Takemichi felt a pang in his heart.

Hope.

"Buy me some gyudon if I win, okay!" Takuya grinned.

"Takuya.."

The gang gave out words of encouragement in the frail boy's way.

"Turns out, they weren't lame. They're actually pretty cool.'

Only then he realized that he was lucky to have such good friends in middle school.
