"Come on Tom, just for a few days?"
Edd sat on my bed while I stayed facing the wall wrapped in my sheets. The cold December air turned my bedroom into a refrigerator.
"Come on, just for one week, maybe even two, and that's it. I can even get us some pizza afterwards and have a movie ni-" the alarm clock rudely interrupted him.
We both sighed, I shoved Edd off the bed and looked through my dresser for my uniform.
"I just don't get why you can't do me this one favor?"
I grabbed my pants and shirt and went down the hall and into the bathroom while spacing out of Edds nagging. Getting dressed as fast as I could I washed my face and marched out back into the bedroom to grab my phone. Turns out that asshole had it and Edd knew about it.
"I'll pay you, how's that?" I grabbed my work bag from under the bed and my wallet from the night stand. "You're not seriously going to work, right? You need to see a doctor."
"No. What I need is to get to work or else my ass is staying at your place." I grabbed my keys and grabbed Edds shoulder as I guided him out the door with me. "Don't you worry Edd, I'm feeling fine. All you've got to worry about is rather or not that communist living in your apartment is going to blow the place up."
Locking the door behind us I nod to Edd. "Pick me up at 8?"
Edd huffed. "You're taking the bus?" I nodded. He nodded and walked away.
When I arrived, I threw open the doors and saw my coworker stocking some shelves. "Hello Oli."
"Tom? So you're not dead."
Tom shook his head as he tossed his things into the employee only area. "I wish I was. Thanks for covering my shifts, how much do I owe ya?"
"Come on, it wasn't that bad!"
I stopped in my tracks and whipped my head over to Matt. "Not that bad? He's still refusing! We can't just leave him here alone!"
I was waiting for Edd to come back with Tom, so when the door open I held my breath and prepared myself to face Toms wrath, but only Edd entered.
"I tried. But he's pretty insistent on not speaking to me and going to work." He flopped down on the sofa in defeat.
Matt glanced to me and Edd back and fourth. "Do you want to watch a movie?"
"No! Absolutely not I have work later. I'm going to bed." Edd took off, leaving me with Matt giving me puppy eyes.
I signed. "Why the hell not. How bad could it be?"
"Thank you, come again."
I held a smile as I watched the door shut behind them. I went into the back and grabbed my phone and stayed for awhile. I kept eyeing the clock as Edd seemed to be taking a little longer than usual. Not long after that damn bell went off, letting me know that it was time to go back out.
I stood behind the counter, still on my phone when someone approached. Putting on my best customer service persona I set my phone down and looked up.
Immediately dropping my smile, I froze and narrowed my eyes. "What do you want?"
He sheepishly put down a few sweets down on the counter. "Just getting snacks." Trying to ease the tensen he laughed a little, but shut up when I did no such thing.
I quickly scanned the sweets and checked him out. When I handed him the bag I turned my back to him and leaned against the counter while on my phone again.
No bell.
"What do you want now?" He stayed quiet. Rolling my non existent eyes I put my phone down and turned back to him. "The door is to your left."
"Look, I know Edd asked you already but, please? Tom I'm trying to mend things but I just-"
"Hey Tom? Oh sorry, am I interpreting something?"
We both turned to face Oliver, with my work bag in hand, who looked at us both confused. "Tom, you're supposed to clock out now. Unless you want to cover my shifts I suggest you clock out." I looked over to the clock and saw he was indeed right. "Thanks but no thanks Oli, cya tomorrow." I grabbed my bag from him and went around to the front with Tord behind me.
Tord followed me out the door and there he was, Edd really waited for us instead of texting me.
I beat Tord to the front, booting him to the back as he complained about leg space. I leaned against the seat and sighed of relief and closed my eyes. "Did you remember them?"
I could only guess Edd nodded because I heard the rattling of pills and a plastic bottle being crushed. I held my hand out and felt the pills in my palm. I opened my eyes and sat up, taking the pills before chugging the water as if I had gone days without it.
Edd drove us home, no music and no talking, even hushing Tord whenever he tried talking. Though I liked it, the quiet let me think. And what I was thinking was causing a big headache.
I glanced at Edd. He was always having to drive me to and back from work. Always having my pills ready for me. Granted I have started going on my own, but he's still always offering to drive me. He helps me wake up for work, cooks for Matt and I.
Wow. I'm a whole man child.
I let out a heavy sigh and closed my eyes again. "Fine."
"Hm? Fine what?"
I scrunched my face, "I'll let the fucking prick stay at my place. But only for short while."
"Thank you Tom, im glad you came around." I didn't need to look at either of them to know what they looked like. Edd having a stupid smile and Tord looking like he won. But as long as he's at my place, I'll make sure im the one winning.
