The four pilots Goose, Fitz, Dragonfly and Maverick were waiting to come in Stingers office.
The door opened and Cougar came out.
"Thanks Dragonfly and Maverick,"and with that he walked away from them, leaving the four confused behind.
"Maverick, Goose, Dragonfly and Fitz, come in here,"Stinger ordered.
Dragonfly closed the door behind her.
"Maverick, Dragonfly, you two just did an incredible brave thing,"Stinger started.
"What you should have done was to land the planes. You don't own the planes, the taxpayers do. Son, your ego is writing cheques your body can't cash.You've been busted. You lost your qualifications as section leader three times. Put in hack twice by me. With a history of high-speed passes over five air-control towers and one admiral's daughter. And for you lady, that was nevertheless your first rule brake, so better keep it that way."
"Yes sir."
"Penny Benjamin,"Goose whispered to Fitz and Maverick, but too loud, causing Fitz to snicker.
"And you two assholes. You're lucky to be here."
"Thank you sir,"Goose and Fitz said, still not taking it all serious.
"And let's not bullshit, Maverick, Dragonfly, your family name ain't the best in the Navy. You need to be doing it better and cleaner than the other guy. Now, what is it with you two ?"
"Just wanna serve my country, be the best fighter pilot in the Navy, sir!,"Pete and Poppy responded at the same time.
"Don't screw around with me,Maverick and Dragonfly. You two are a hell of an instinctive pilot. Maybe too good. I'd like to bust your butts, but I can't. I got another problem here. I gotta send somebody from this squadron to Miramar."
The four pilots exchanged confused looks.
"You four characters are going to Top Gun. For three and a half months, you're gonna fly against the best fighter pilots in the world. You were number two, Cougar was number one. Cougar lost it and turned in his wings. You guys are number one now, along with Dragonfly and Fitz."
"Let me be very clear. You better not fuck this up."
"Yes sir,"Maverick, Goose, Dragonfly and Fitz replied in sync.
