A gorgeous painting

Blues, golds, and greens all swirling together

The night lights twinkling

Laughter

A soft melody in the air

Free to live

Without a care

But one day you get curious

One day you want more

So you ask

Why is the painting there?

What is the painting trying to mask?

And so you take the painting down

And there on the wall

A crack

The painting was simply an act

You pulled back the curtains and revealed the truth

The truth

That everything is not as it seems

That freedom is not fully yours

The crack was hiding

But it was always there

Waiting

For someone to really stare
