"Aurora Enyo! Get down from the couch RIGHT NOW!" Alina Starkov's voice reverberated in the small room.
Aurora did not get down.
She giggled and sprawled her limbs over the soft cushions, throwing one of her rebellious smirks as if to say 'challenge accepted'.
Her mother stopped for a second at the sight of the familiar smile. A dark look overcame her youthful features before it vanished.
I'll not let her be like him.
Alina huffed in frustration and slammed down the dough on the bowl. Then, she made the show of raising her hands and inspecting the sleek dough that stuck out from her fingers and palm. The summoner was well aware of a set of ivory eyes glaring at the fingers as well, contemplating whether being rebellious is worth getting wheat all over or not.
Aurora did not budge.
"Fine," Alina groaned and sniffed before rushing towards the sofa.
Aurora giggled and rolled over, nearly missing the deadly attack.
"Oh, no you don't!" Alina grinned alongside her daughter.
The little brunette tried to rush away, though 'rush' would be an overstatement with her petite feet.
"I was-" alina started and gently grabbed Aurora from her waist, "Busy". She thrust her fingers on the child's neck with softness and tickled. Aurora kicked the air, battling for air and laughing.
Her voice was as sweet as honey, though sometimes, Alina heard the coolness in it. The same coolness she inherited from her 'father'.
At times, young Aurora would narrow her eyes at something complex and tilt her head sideways - something which precisely mirrored a specific someone with hair as dark as night and eyes as cold as ice.Like always, Alina brushed away her thoughts. Aurora was her daughter. Not the daughter of a murderer.
She would make Aurora a saint, not a sinner.
"Who's the boss now, huh, who's the boss?" Alina wiggled her fingers in midair, one hand cradling baby Aurora and the other raised above her head.
"Nonono!" Aurora stammered and grinned.
This time, Alina didn't listen.
She dug her hands at Aurora's waist and twisted her fingers. Aurora roared with laughter.
The mother-daughter moment instantly came to an end when the main door opened, revealing a man with dark brown hair and arctic blue eyes. In his left hand was a knife which had dried blood on, while in his right, he held two dead squirrels.
Malyen Oretsev, Aurora Enyo's papa was here.
"Mal-"
"We have a problem."Alina scooped a panting Aurora off the ground and did an unsuccessful job of wiping her hands on her clothes.
"Grisha...." Mal took a deep breath, "The Grisha examiners are here. They will be coming here next. There are camps too."
Little Aurora couldn't understand what her papa was saying, her understanding of words was less, very less. But she noticed the way her papa said 'Grisha' was the same way that man in her dream had said 'child'.
Though there was more disgust than alien-ness.Alina gasped and hugged her daughter tighter. Aurora, not knowing what to do, reciprocated the act.
Then, she nodded to Mal and he bolted to where the mother-daughter duo was standing.
