Miranda was so happy! She had just discovered she was carrying a small baby girl! She and Thomas had planned it all out, it would be perfect. Miranda lay in bed, filled with happy feelings. As it started getting colder outside she held her sheets tight to her head. Sheets of ice covered outside, the snowfall was so thick that Miranda couldn't see anything from the window. Thomas wasn't with her, he had gone to get wood to start a fire. She bundled up, trying to thaw her frozen fingers. she could see her breath like a puffy cloud before her. Where was Thomas?
Miranda had started drifting to sleep, and then she heard it, a screech of pure terror rung through the frozen house. Miranda gasped and shaked, she saw something that stuck in fear and shock through her body like lightning. She wanted to look away but she couldn't shake her gaze.
There was a looming vaguely human-like shape, it was inky black with infernal red eyes with a fanged mouth that flowed as red as blood. The vaguely humanlike demonic figure standing over her barely moving husband made Miranda want to run fast but also check her husband. She screamed, what else could she do but scream in terror hoping someone, anyone comes to help. The shadowed figure slowly turned its face towards her.
"You're here" the figure creeps towards her, hunched over with long dark spikes protruding from its back. "Your family shall pay for trying to trick me!!" it roared in fury. "Your foolish ancestors tricked me with a fake! Nobody tricks me, and gets away with it!" The demon flicked it sharp, clawed hands at her.She felt as if time stopped and the world had dimmed, everything seemed like all of the Hope was gone, and was replaced with a burning hatred.
The feeling was inside of her, she felt ripples of fire burning her from the inside. Miranda gasped from the pain lacing her body. Once the demon seemed satisfied he spoke with his horrible voice "it's been done, one way or another she has been laced with the power, why such a gift? So I can use it when I'm in need, a little convenient, revenge and a string I can pull to escape my fate." and with that last raspy breath, the Demon disappeared. Miranda knew something had happened to her, or her child. Her heart pounded quickly and loudly, nothing could erase her fear in that moment, not the fact her husband had woken up and seemed fine, not the fact it probably wasn't her who was affected. For now she stood paralyzed as her heart tried to leap out of her chest. Thomas rushed over to her and tried to calm her down. Miranda took shaky breaths as her pulse returned to normal. The pain she felt was indescribable, so she sat down on the floor. Thomas quickly went out after to get the doctor. It felt like hours, maybe more waiting for him to come back and tell her everything was fine because she really needed that reassurance.
(This is my very first story! I'm super excited about it so no hate please! I'm currently editing chapter 1 before adding it, also once I figure out the image for the title I'm adding that too!)
