I breathed against my fingertips as I chewed on the brim of my necklace. Today was the day that I auditioned for my dream school.

I walked through the corridors of the building, holding my bag filled with extra things that I needed: extra clothes, my water bottle, etc. I glanced down at my feet, making sure I didn't trip over myself in my ballet slippers. When I got these as a birthday present for my sixteenth birthday, I tried them on and spun for hours. I practically couldn't take them off. That night, I ended up in the hospital because I tripped over them and it ended with a bloody and broken nose. I wasn't about to do that again.

The hall was filled with loud chatter and different types of dancing popping around the crowded hall. I spotted a clear section that I could sit at, so I made my way over to there. I dropped my bag on the floor, as I went down with it. I started out by doing simple stretches, moving my legs in an almost split. I leaned over to the right, stretching my left arm over my body and grabbing onto my right foot. I stayed in that position for a minute, then transitioned my arms. I glanced at the other auditions, curious to see what my competition looked like. From the looks of it, I noticed straight away that a lot of people were here for ballet. I felt my heart drop to my stomach, as I sat up from the leg stretches. I began to stretch my arms.

At that moment, I saw from what looked to be a duo dance couple. One was a man and the other was a woman. It seemed to look like they were arguing.

"Listen, I don't have time for your bull crap!" Screamed the lady as she threw a rose onto the hard concrete floor.

"Please! We haven't even auditioned yet, and now you're arguing?!" The man yelled back. I noticed that his voice was surprisingly deep.

"Me?! I'm the one arguing?!" The woman argued back, "That's it! After the audition, we're done! I will not be you're dance partner anymore!"

"Fine with me!" The man crossed his arms, turning away from her. The lady huffed, then stormed off.

Feeling a little awkward in the moment, I transitioned my stretching position. I sat up a little, repositioning myself into the splits. The man that was arguing just a second ago dropped his bag angrily next to my foot, unzipping it aggressively and scavenging through it. The belongings clanked and clattered against the bag and into each of the other objects inside the bag. He glanced towards me, then back at his bag.

"Sorry," he murmured to himself.

"You're alright," I responded back, smiling a little. I arched my back, bringing my hand gracefully over my body and near my ankle. The man pressed his back against the wall and slowly slid down to the ground. I continued to stretch my muscles. I glanced at the man every once in a while, looking at his outfit. It was a very vibrant red button down, with black pants. I also noticed that his shoes were extremely shiny.

"Tango..." I thought to myself.

"Let me guess," I said as I stopped stretching for a while, "Tango?"
He turned his head towards me, his eyes widening a little.

"Yeah," his eyebrows furrowed, "How did you know?"

"The outfit kind of gave it away," I chuckled, then positioned myself into criss-cross applesauce. He laughed a little, looking at the ground.

"Yep, that's what I'm auditioning for," he sighed.

"Well, I hope you do well," I smiled a little, then turned to unzip my bag next to me.

"We'll see about that," he chuckled, "If my partner doesn't decide to bail out on me during the performance."

"I'm sure she won't," I shook my head when I said this, "If she really cares about this, then she'll proceed with the audition."
The man laughed dryly when I said this. We sat there in silence for a minute.

"So, you're auditioning for ballet?" He questioned.

"Yeah," I grabbed my water bottle and untwisted the lid, "It's been my dream to get a good scholarship here."

"Really?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Yep," I took a sip of water and looked at him.

"Good luck," he smiled.

"Thanks," I smiled back, "You too."

A moment of realization read all over his expression. He held out his hand, which the red sleeves to his button down were pushed up to his elbows, "I'm Mark, by the way."

I extended my arm to shake his hand in return. His hands were soft, but oddly enough rough at the same time.

"{Y/N}," I answered back.
