A boy on a bike was delivering newspapers. His friend had said the house at the end of the dirt road was haunted and told him that if he wanted to be a real man he would go down there and check it out, so being the stupid 13-year-old that he was he went down with little to no hesitation, but now standing in front of the metal gates his tuff guy demeanor had long left, he walked closer to the gate starring at the old mansion, a force pushed him back he yelped with fright " GO AWAY!" Uttered a raspy voice. The boy ran to his bike and rushed off as fast as he could leaving his bag on the ground with fliers blowing in the wind.
I stood behind Jim my brother-in-law, not only had I been late for the last two showings but I got stuck with him instead of Sarah how could this day get any worse.
"Its love isn't it sometimes you walk into a house and you take one look around and you know and you say this is for me" Jim was good at selling I'll give him that.Mrs. Colman groaned " I think it's perfect it's just what we've been looking for," her smile said it all she loved the house.
" There aren't enough plugs" Mr.Colman spoke up, I sigh time to get to work.
"Wait, now Mr. Colman. The place the Mr. Ever's showed you on Sycamore Street, had plenty of plugs" I commented raising my eyebrows
" That right" sang Mrs. Colman " there were plenty"
"Yeah, but the steps were too high, when we get older, we could trip" Mr. Colman pointed out, the Colmans we're people we've been trying to buy for weeks now ' this house too small' ' this house too big' no stairs, yes stairs, they couldn't decide if the perfect house slapped them in the face.
"Every house we look at, you find something to pick at, " Mrs. Colman told him, I could feel the tension.
" I just know what I like." Mr. Colman sighs with a shrug of his shoulders and a grin on his face, steam was rolling off of this woman how could Mr. Colman not see this?
"Would you like a divorce?" She threatened him " 'Cause I'll bring it."
Well, this wasn't where I thought it was going." Hey, hey!" Jim stepped in " No need for that. Let me explain something to you. We're going to find this house for you, totally committed to finding the perfect house for you." Jim's side hustle is on point right now, I mean wow.
" And we don't care how long it takes" I cut in, side-hugging Ms. Colman
"Because at Evers and Evers, we want you to be happy- " Jim started " forever and ever. " we finish together.
My phone rang and Sarah's name was on the screen " Excuse me I'll be one second" I told Mr. and Mrs. Colman.
"Hello this is Evers and Evers Real estate," I said answering the phone.
"Jim's phone is dead can you hand him yours?" She asked, might as well get these people interested.
" of course, this house is still on the market you know what my boss is right here he can give you all of the details!" I exclaimed in an over-excited voice,
I gave the phone to Jim."Let me take this call, sorry" he laughed " Hello. Evers and Evers real estate, Jim Evers." I could see the fear in their eyes, hook, line, and sinker.
I got super close to the phone acting like I was excited about who was on the phone."Hey, honey. How's it going? Do they like the house?" Sarah asked
"Uh, yes, this house is still available " I nod following where this was going
"Oh, I knew it. I told you they were looking lous." Sarah said
"I agree," I told her, I turn to the Colman's" it's another interested party " I explain to them.
